Immediately upon leaving the Parking Lot at the Cracker Barrel, I heard a "pop", then picked up a serious vibration. Knowing pretty well that it was a U-Joint, I tried to coax it home, and got within 3 miles before it spit the Yoke out onto the road, taking the Coolant Tank with it...the "Culprit".....

Big THANKS to Tommy for giving me a "Nuts-to-Butts" Ride Home to get the Phantom Cruiser, and Mitzie a Ride to get Her Scooter.....

It was either that or lead the Ride like this after Pioneer Honda brought Their Trailer to get Our Trike.....

I had to "re-arrange" the Route some to compensate for the delay. We also picked up oldman for the Ride, as He was at the Honda Shop when They got my distress call. We stopped in Altamount for a break.....

My Sincerest Apologies to ALL the Attending TOI Members for the Breakdown, and Long Delay on the side of the Highway. Shortest warning I've ever gotten from a U-Joint....I'll try to make it up to Everyone on the next TOI RIDE.....ThumbUp

Too bad about the issues, skuuter! But I'm pretty sure all the group needed something to tease you about, and I bet all had a great adventure anyway. great pictures!

THANKS Nana....GREAT Bunch of Folks in Our TOI Chapter.....ThumbUp :10:

MOTOR TRIKE called me first thing this morning, already on the process of getting parts rounded up to get my Trike back up and going.....GREAT SERVICE from a GREAT COMPANY.....ThumbUp :10:

Looks like things worked well with everybody helping each other. Most important, you made it to 2 eateries :D .

I am not exactly "Mr. Mechanic", so I'll ask - was this u-joint problem a "fluke" or is it a MT issue? I have a relatively new MT Phoenix and I'm trying to learn what to look out for. Is there any special prev maint required or is this a case of "sh*t happens"?

"S" Happens....ThumbUp...having spent my whole Life around Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Karts, Race Cars, etc., etc., etc. ....."EVERYTHING" Mechanical "WILL" at some point tear up. I, and MOTOR TRIKE have a pretty good idea how it "probably" failed, and it's something that could easily happen to any shaft driven vehicle on any given moment. In the "World of Mechanical Vehicles", Good, Timely Company Response is the Best Thing that can happen to a Customer when that "If It Can Break, It Will Break" Moment comes...in this Case, It was Great, and Really Timely...Just Enjoy Your Motor Trike knowing You bought a Great Kit from a Great Company.....pepperpepperpepper

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll just "...keep on truckin', err "trikein'." <img src="images/smilies/grin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="big grin" class="inlineimg" />

Skuuter thank for the ride sat. people that have to ride flat land all the time just don't know what there missing by not living next to the mt,

Another great ride planned and lead by Skuuter. If every state had a 'Skuuter' TOI would be a force to be reckoned with. I haven't yet figured out how Skuuter can sense the good weather weeks in advance. With Friday thru Sunday temps bumping 70 degrees here, it was a mini vacation for us to stay overnight in Manchester and join the riders for breakfast on Saturday.

Since I wasn't riding my Harley/MotorTrike (we rode our funster Burgmans), I will withhold any broken-down Honda jokes. Deb and I were talking about what a great time we were having just trading stories on the side of the road while we waited on the pickup trailer.

Thanks, Skuuter and Mitzie!!

Aw, THANKS Loner....Glad Ya'll came up from Alabama, and glad You had some "beside the road entertainment"......ThumbUp...Actually, the Great Success and Fun had on These Rides isn't because of me, it's the GREAT TOI MEMBERS that make it so much Fun...Hope to see Ya'll on some more of the Rides...maybe another "Pikeville, Alabama Burger Ride" soon.....ThumbUp

"BROKEN TRIKE UPDATE".....First let me say that the ENTIRE MOTOR TRIKE STAFF was ABSOLUTELY GREAT and TOP NOTCH about handling Everything after Our 2010 Gold Wing Motor Trike IRS was hauled to the Dealer to be repaired. Everything was warranted and handled extremely professionally...ALL You can ask of a GREAT Trike Company.....ThumbUp :10:

Now, as most of You know, I bought a new 2013 Honda Gold Wing 1800 F6B Cruiser. Since buying it, Our Local Honda Dealer and I worked out a Trade on the Gold Wing Trike after it was repaired instead of owning, and paying for both at this time....Yes, We no longer have a Trike right now...:cxtv:....."BUT".....

Our "Could-Happen-To-Any-Trike-At-Anytime" Driveshaft Disaster, has in no way dampened Our Enthusiasm for MOTOR TRIKE IRS Ownership. Mitzie at this very moment is having prices worked up on a New Red Gold Wing F6B MOTOR TRIKE RAPTOR IRS Trike.....not sure we can fit this into Our Budget right now, but if not, Mitzie at some point later is gonna' own one...I'm All For It.....again, this is a Really Personal THANK YOU to the MOTOR TRIKE Company...WE WILL OWN ANOTHER ONE.....pepper pepper pepper

Skuuter,

Thank you so much for your loyalty and support! We truly value you as a customer and can't wait to have you and Mitzie riding with us again.
