Roadsmith extra safety on rear

Hey guys I read a post from one of your members posted. I thought I would try it and see how it works. On the back of your Roadsmith trike the chrome plate on the trunk. Undo the bolts and place some red reflective tape under the chomre strip. This helps greatly at nite being seen and it cost about $3.00. Great tip HIGHLY advise all Roadsmith owners to do this . Ride Safe Greg

I think you're referring to a picture I posted a couple of months ago.

Great looking. Hope I'm not asking a dumb question, how did your get the ROADMSITH lettering? I have a 2005, thinking seriously 'Roadsmith'......Assume you are happy with yours.

The Roadsmith is already there it is a chrome plate that is bolted to your trunk. I didnt even undo all the bolts 2 on one side and 1 on the other raised it up and taped over the piece of tape that was already there. Took maybe 15 minutes it looks great Greg

I'm "EXTREMELY" happy with my Roadsmith conversion!!! :10:

Here's another shot which will show you the chrome Roadsmith banner on the trunk that Greg was referring to. If you click on the picture, it should give you a much larger view.

Not all of the Roadsmith's have the chrome "Roadsmith" plate. My 2011 only has a solid chrome plate with a Roadsmith sticker in the middle. It really is hard to distinguish my trike from a TriGlide and am going to contact Doug about swapping it out although it would mean some drilling on an already finished surface. Any ideas you guys? The "Roadsmith" bar may not even fit the trike I have but I want to ask because it looks good.

Roadsmith already has the reflective tape cut.............just to install.......Doug gave me a tape when I had my 37,000 miles check-up on my 2012 Roadsmith.........hisst

Ok, so where do you get the reflective tape? Gotta do that to mine ...

Actually, the Roadsmith is only held on with 4 screws .. Twp on each end .. All you
do is up it up, put a level on it in the middle, do a little measuring on each end, use
a magic marker to mark where your holes go .. Not hard to do at all .. Just had to
have my whole trunk lid replaced after being rear-ended .. Took the tech at The
Trike Shop in Daytona about 2 minutes to put it on, and I helped ... heehh ..

That is a GREAT addition, Can't get too much light on the rear of any trike. Charley

Yes, mine is a 2006 Kit, back when they were called Trike Shop not Roadsmith so all mine has is a solid piece of chrome on the back - no name. I was thinking maybe I could replace it but it's not flat, more like a curved edge. Guess that's a good excuse to add more LED lights to the rear :)

I know at least one graphics & sign shop that does the logos & names on the police cars up here, they use a "triple" reflective type of material....that stuff REALLY lights up!!...Just a thought if you can find some of that.ThumbUp
