Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

I have a VW Trike and my brother even teases me that my VW has lost a wheel.
I also don't have to ride a trike because of physical problems or age. I have an Awesome 2 wheeler (VTX1800) that is a pleasure to ride. One of the largest reasons for the trike besides I've wanted one since before I had a driver license, is that my wife will not ride the 2 wheeler. She doesn't like to lean. So if she is coming along for a ride we take the trike.
If it is just me riding... I'm lucky... I get to have a choice on what ride depending on my mood.

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

All too often there is more "good" than "bad"

folks have pulled up beside us in their cars on the highway and taken videos
folks have pulled up beside us just to wave and smile
we stopped at a Chili's the other day for lunch, a guy had just left and saw the trike parked there and came back and ask the hostess if she knew who was riding it.....he wanted to talk to us about it, (he was a younger guy) said he wanted one and was looking for pro and con info.
sure we have had a few giggles directed at us, but no big deal.

so all in all ....way more good!

when we ride....we simply kick back and enjoy, there is nothing like motorcycle riding, be it 2 wheels or 3.
there is always a story to tell after a ride...always!
you experience sights and sounds on a motorcycle there is no way on God's green earth you can experience in a cage.
so do it on 2 or 3.....do it on HD / Kawasaki / Honda / Yamaha / Suzuki....doesn't matter, I ride HD because I LIKE HD, I ride 3 wheels because I LIKE 3 wheels

we were in Kansas in 09 returning from a trip, saw a TG at a gas station....knew right then I had to have one...so the quest was on, traded my '06 RK for it in early '10 and have not looked back (up to that point I considered the RK as THE most versitle and comfortable scoot in the world)

if you enjoy the ride as much as we do, then what the hell difference does it make

for that matter do it on a motorized unicycle if you can make it work
to us it is the passion of the ride, not what we ride

JUST DO IT!!

CRAP! hope Nike doesn't get ticked off for that

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

There is a little bit of friendly banter around here between the 2 wheelers and the trikes but it is always good natured. The thing that my wife and I have encountered the most since we bought our TG in Aug. 2010 is questions from many different people. We have been asked questions in gas stations, mall parking lots, you name it. Last Memorial Day weekend we rode out to Nampa, ID to visit our two daughters living there and every time we stopped people were talking to us about the trike. We spent two days in Yellowstone Park on the way back and every time we stopped to see the sights we had people coming up to us and asking about the trike. Even a few Japanese tourists from a bus tour came over and just nodded and smiled. We have been thru Yellowstone 6 previous times but the last time thru there on a trike was fantastic. The wife even said going thru Yellowstone in a car will never be the same as on a trike.

2011 Merlot and Black TG, lift kit, deflectors, cat removed.

Dakota and CSM, we encountered the same wonderful curiosity when we went 'out west' a couple of summers ago . . . French, Italian, and Japanese tourists from Flagstaff & Las Vegas to Yosemite and the California coast highway all wanted to know about the trike & trailer . . . how much, how fast, how comfy . . . and we've had the same questions from coast to coast. We're proud of our 2008 GW1800 CSC, and enjoy every mile!!

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

Ladies and gentlemen, (i use that term loosely), I've met some of the guys from here at different times. This past weekend my 4 year old son, begged me to go riding. Now how do you put a 4 year old child on a motorcycle, he cant ride behind you, possibly may get distracted and come off. He put on his boots, vest, glasses and helmet, and rode perfectly in front of me. He even drove a little, not realizing I still had one hand on the hamdlebars. Personally, there is no way i would do this on a 2 wheeleer. He's usually highly pissed off at me now if I leave him at home. Our area law enforcement, (Louisiana) does not have a problem with this. Where and how else could those type memories be made, plus he is learning how to ride properly and safely. One last thought, only a biker can understand why a dog hangs his head out of a moving car window. It doesnt matter the cost, old, young, new or homemade. Just always keep the shiny side up.

I get people run from the curb and stand next to me at a light so they can get their picture take ( at least 20 times so far.) they even jump out of cars.

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

Had a guy come up to me a few years ago and ask all the common questions about my trike, Being that i grew up in Brooklyn i can smell sarcasm. [I think sarcasm was invented at Ebbets field].
His parting shot was i think I'll get one of them for my Girlfriend!
So i said to him, You should i took her for a few rides last week a she loved it.
He turned red shook his head and walked away, Bet i planted a seed in his head that day. pepperpepper

Back in the 80's i would take my Nephew for short rides on the back of my Honda Cb750, He was ten at the time now hes older than me.
But any way one time we went on a fairly long ride, and after a while i felt his helmet banging against mine, It turned out he was falling asleep back there. No more long rides for him after that, It just didn't seen safe any more.
Damn Honda's there just too smooth.

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

Being a funeral director, I used to get "don't you see enough of people dieing from riding motorcycles".
My response was, " I pick up a lot of people that die in bed, but I go there every night"

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

I always enjoy this one......

"How much did it cost?"......If you have to ask....you probably can't afford one....

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

I have yet to have any one put my Trike or me down. On the other hand I have had many folks make good remarks about my 2010 GL 1800 with Champion kit. Many said how "when they get older......" Well I say why wait have fun and enjoy the ride now !!!

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

No one has put me down for having one either. As a matter of fact I get more than my share of compliments. Let alone spending extra time at a gas station answering questions.

Re: Answers to Trike Questions from "Those People".....

I'm 65 with bad knees. On my second trike, a 2012 HD TriGlide. I've never heard a snide remark about my ride, maybe I'm hard of hearing too.
Most comments are complimentary or inquisitive. The guys around my age that are riding two whellers, well you can almost hear them thinking "Maybe I ought to look into buying a trike"
