Tri Glide Neutral

Well I agree with MSOCKO3 I find its easier to push down on the toe shifter to first gear then use the heel to shift up into neautral also I do a good job of using the heel to bang thru the gears do it on both the Tri-Glide and my Rocket. Really loved the heel & toe when I used to commute, saved my shined shoes.

That's exactly how I do it. He taught me well.:D

I have had it in for the 1000 mile service and again at 2500 mileas.Told them about it both times. It is still a problem.

:wave4: Same here!1

I have 46 thou miles on it now [most ridden in USA] and still have the nuetral problem. Keep telling them every time I take it in. Being a disabled rider with bad legs it's a pain in the butt.
Last year at Sturgis I took it to the Motortrike people to see what they thought... their head guy tried 16 times to get it in nuetral--and couldn't. If trike is cold it will go in easier, but after a run and engine warm it's like stirring a rice pudding! :AGGHH:
[mine is Ultra Classic with Motortrike]

I seem to have the best luck when the trike is still moving forward. It takes a soft touch to get it. Hate it when I can not get it in and the light is a long one. Get tired of holding in the clutch!! Mike

When I first start up the trike I can put it right into neutral with no problem. But once I'm riding and going somewhere when I come to a full stop it will sometimes hit neutral on the first try or it may take me 10 tries. I find the best way once I am riding is as someone mentioned, as you are slowing way down and almost to a stop try putting it in neutral. It will almost always go right in neutral and light up the green "N". But once you are fully stopped then it may or may not work. Someone mentioned that they always put it in neutral when they come to stop signs or stoplights. You should always put it in first when stopping at lights or signs. Only time it should be in neutral is when you plan on backing up or you are sitting in a parking lot or off street just idleing.

2011 TG Merlot and Black, lift kit, deflectors, LED headlight, cat removed with SE header and of course some bling.

Here if you have it in neutral at lights or stop sign you are deemed to not be in control of the vehicle. It's Safety for quick get away if someone doesn't stop behind you, and you can't do that in neutral.

On two wheels, must be in gear and covering the back brake [left leg down on ground not both]

Aussie Anne, you are so right with your suggestions. There is only one time I may place my bike in neutral at the stop lights and that is when there are other vehicles already stopped behind me.

Patriot, I do the same. ThumbUp

I've always read that you should keep it in gear in case you have to get out of the way fast. Of course you have to keep an eye on your rear view mirrors. I do it constantly, stopped and while riding.
I see some riders that don't know what mirrors are for or they have cute little boutique mirrors that you can't see anything, but they sure are cute-to them anyway. :D
Me, I like my mirrors BIG, I want to see what's going on around me at all times.

It might sound good, but if you are fortunate enough to tell the vehicle coming up behind you isn't going to stop, I want to know where you re going to make your high speed escape to !!! The cross traffic I'm sure is going to stop and let you across the street, or let you merge into their lane while they have the light.

All or this is going to happen within about a second to a second and a half. That is if you move in time to make a difference !

There are ways off the lane if you only drive on two lane streets, but as we progress with our streets most of them are becoming multi-lane intersections. The speeds are all going up, and you are going to out do all of this because your bike is in gear ????

By the time you look ahead, make up your mind where you can move to,,,,, you're hit !!!

Get real ! :Trike1:

You should have your escape route picked when you stop. I was stopped at a light once a few years back behind a car and I saw a car coming up quik behind me and knew he wasn't going to stop in time I drove the trike into a roadside ditch as he hit the car I was behind. I had some mud and grass on the trike but I got a couple of guys and a woman to help me get her back on the road with no damage to me or the trike.

Years ago when i took a rider course to get my motorcycle endorsement the instructor told us to always make sure you leave an escape route. When i pull up behind someone i always stay far enuff back to leave room to get out of the way.

I have almost 14,000 miles on my 2011 triglide and it has always been hard to find neutal. Learned to just tap the rear shift peg but I still don't feel like it went in but it does. Also when I down shift, it seems like it is hitting on top of the gear and not going in unless pull the clutch again and let it out with pressure on the shifter and it pops in.
