Anyone using the Crotch Cooler on top of those plastic deflectors?

Re: Anyone using the Crotch Cooler on top of those plastic deflectors?

Okay guys lets re-evaluate this...simple math. You all are running the interstates at 75, 80, 85 mph. Your front weight is 250 .bs, what kind of weight do you have in the tour pack and the trunk. These are touring bikes, I very seldom ride the interstates, but always am riding the mtns and twisties. When I gaged the mpg in FL, riding Interstate 75 at 75/80 and Hwy 41 at 60/65 I got the 42.2 mpg. I haven't gaged it here in the mtns & twisties, but I doubt that it will drop much. We get 21 mpg on our F250 diesel at speeds around 65. When we are pulling the RV (13,000 lbs plus two bikes at 2000 lbs) the gas milage drops to around 12. If you want good gas miles go back to cruising, and unload the cargo! OH, unhitch the trailer. LOL

TNT, I get it;)

Unfortunately I can't go back to "cruising". My cruiser was a Triumph Rocket III. At 830 lbs and powered by a 140 CI motor, it was the "F-350" of motorcycles :p . All I can tell you is that I'm better off with my current gas mileage. I will tell you this much, I'm jealous of your 42.2 mpg!!!! Short of signing up for the Biggest Loser, I'm pretty much stuck with my gravitational situation :D
I am heading Rhode Island on Big Blue in a month. I'll be looking for those back roads so I can slow down and enjoy the scenery AND get 30+ mpg.

Doesn't matter if I have any cargo or empty. Doesn't change. If I Ride up to Alexandria about 90 miles away, I can take two routes. One is 75 MPH and I do 85-90 most of the trip. I get about 25.8 mpg. If I take the back roads at 45-55 speeds I get a blazing 27.2. I believe it is the PC-V set-up.

Yes, I believe it is the PC V, along with weight of the trike. Tn Triker doesn't have a PC V. Plus, she stripped down her TG. I have not heard of anyone getting 42.2 mpg on a TG on a regular basis.

Re: Anyone using the Crotch Cooler on top of those plastic deflectors?

As I've said on lots of Harley boards, if your main concern is gas mileage, you should have saved 15,000 bucks and bought a Toyota Carolla.

If your mileage is in the low to mid 20's something is wrong. You are running too rich, not shifting soon enough, or shifting way too soon and lugging it. If you are getting 45 mpg, well, then God loves you or you spend a lot of time coasting down hill. If you read the posts on this forum and the 'other one' 90% of the riders get mid 30's.

Now, if you have done tons of engine work, all bets are off.

Screwball...I can guarantee you that I don't coast down the hills, but I know for sure that God loves me! As a matter of fact, I have waited for people at the end of the Dragon so we can finish our ride, even guys on also, riding two!
