Yeti coolers are Excellent!! Very durable and seem to keep Ice longer than most coolers. Are they worth the $$$$? Not sure. I have friends that have them but I have not taken the plunge yet myself. We do a lot of camping and have been using a 48qt 5 day Coleman for 4 years now and it has really done a great job. And yes it will keep Ice for 4 - 5 days at the Beach in 90 + degree Temps. I paid a quarter of the price my Buddy paid for his Yeti and even though I agree the Yeti is a nicer, better built cooler and it does seem to keep Ice about a day longer, I just can't justify the cost right now.

Insane price for a cooler. The Yeti may keep ice longer but we won't be going camping in the Sahara or Death Valley anytime soon. Actually can't see being too far away from $2.99 or less bags of ice no matter where we go. Our Igloo on the rack of the Bunkhouse holds ice in 90° temps about 3 days and the melted water and pop or other libations are cold for a day after the ice melts if it is in the shade for most of the day. The cup seems to have a bunch of good reviews except for the lid that isn't leakproof or insulated, but the assistant principal at school paid $35.00 for a 30oz one, and I have a 24oz Bubba Sport bottle with a leakproof lid that tilts up to a straw (there is a regular cup style sealable lid) that keeps ice hours longer for about $15. The Yeti stuff may be good, but not triple or quadruple the price good for the way most folks I know use a cooler.

A lot of bananas for a cooler someone who knows what it is and what it cost could swipe. I put a cooler on the front of my Aluma trailer, I hauled the cooler on 1 trip. With plenty of rest stops and gas stations around I can stop any place for a cool drink, I'm sure not going to pack a lunch.

it depends on what you are actually looking for it to do. i have one and no it does not keep ice for 10 days but will keep it for 5-7 days depending on how many times you open it. you will also want to pre cool any drinks you put in it. now, are they worth the money, i guess that depends on how many times you are going to use it yearly or if there is ice available near to where you are going. would i buy another, for me yes.

My Yeti is pretty much a permanent fixture on the tray of my Aluma. Yep! keeps ice for days & days. Padlocked to the trailer so I'm not overly concerned about theft. Well worth the money.

As an added note: I put some ice in the cooler, stored in the barn, last November as a test and as of yesterday it hasn't melted. Must be good!

They are good coolers, but for what the big one cost you can buy a small Generator and Small fridge for that much. :Shrug:

OK I admit it. I was joking. The Yeti is actually clean and empty. But it is a darn good cooler. We rode to Oregon last summer. 5 lbs of ice out and 5 lbs back was all it took.

Thanks oahe, you helped make up my mind. If yours still has ice in it after all that time I have to have one. Actually if it's that good it might even make ice and I could sell the ice to help pay for the cooler!

I've been thinking of one too but haven't pulled the trigger yet. After a lot of research I have read good things about the Pelicans. Little cheaper. May keep ice longer. You may want to check them out.

I filled a Wal-Mart plastic shopping bag with ice in December, Put it on my back deck and it's about 3 months now and it hasn't melted.. And you get them free, Just have to remember as you walk though the store try not to make eye contact with anyone...

Yep. I've been using them in the oil/gas field work for the past 4 years because they will hold ice for 3 days in the 110 degree heat of a south Texas summer and sometimes it's tough to find ice every day down there. I've had one Yeti stolen out of the back of my truck. They cut the cable-lock and ran off with it. I replaced it and added a bed cover to the truck along with cable-locking the replacement. It's still there. Yep....they're expensive. With that said, we use a Coleman stainless steel cooler on our Aluma trailer for the trike/motorcycle application. It's way less expensive to replace should it ever be stolen, and there is always ice at the gas stops, if needed.

Thanks for the information lgjhn. We went ahead and bought the yeti 35, not sure I'm as impressed as I thought I would be. It does have lots of insulation and is heavy but don't know if it's going to hold ice for days and days like advertised. Really haven't put it to test yet so time will tell. We usually put our cold cooler inside the trailer and use the cooler on the front for dry goods, so if someone steals the yeti they will have to take the trailer!

I am impressed with their tumblers though and have been using the 30oz in my butler holder. I've filled it in the morning with ice and tea, drank from it all day without adding ice and it still has ice in it the next day (24 hours later). This has been while in the house and or truck so don't know how long the ice will last when riding all day but the tumbler fits in the holder ok. This will be lots easier for someone to walk away with so I'll have to be a bit more careful.

The Yeti might be worth the $ if I were going on an African Safari....weekly, but for my yearly 10 day ride...not! Took a ride pulling my trailer with a tongue mount 36qt. Igloo Cooler in 2013, riding in 90-100deg temps with 5 lbs of ice and it kept the Gator Aid cold for 7 days. I think the trick is to not drain the melted ice. It's still cold and draining it is loosing it's cooling effect..... I think the thing cost around $40 bucks.
