Wisconsin sidecar

Seven years ago I built a sidecar frame and suspension, and put a 2 passenger sno mo sleigh body on it so my wife and 1 year old son could ride with me. It turned out that the car was too wide, and handled rather poorly. I had a side car on a French 500cc one lunger when I was stationed in Europe, and really liked it. So, I wanted to try a sidehack again. It turned out my wife did not care to ride, so I took it off. Two years ago my 6 year old son started riding behind me. Now my wife wants to ride again, so I will spend the winter remaking my sidecar into a single wide. I will cut off about 1/3 of the body lengthwise, and narrow the frame accordingly. It should handle much better. The tug is a 79 XS11. In the future, I hope to build a trike from a Buick 3.8 front drive. I have been studying others in prep for the big build. So, I will continue to visit this site to gather info for this build. I now have an 01 Lesabre, which I hope to drive for another year. This car should make a nice donor for the running gear.

Welcome from Coon Valley, Wi. Thought long and hard about a side car, decided to go with a Roadsmith Trike in 2012. We love triking and would not go back to two wheels again. Good Luck with your project and I hope your wife enjoys the ride and gets into it. It is one wonderful way to enjoy this great country and to meet a lot of wonderful people. While I'm at it Everyone out there have a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON! JerryD
