Wondering what everyone does to winterizing their Tri-Glide. I know, changing the fluid's, Seafoam in the gas tank.

But what about the radiator, wet head?

I never put my Tri-Glide away for the winter, I ride all winter, But i do put my bikes away.. And i never change the oil, I do fill the gas tank right to the top add a little gas treatment in the tank let the engine run a little to circulate the treatment , Put a tender on the battery.....Cover the bike with old sheets......And NEVER Run the bikes till spring.

Been doing it that way for over 45 years...And never had a problem ...

Change over to Amsoil 10-40 syn motorcycle oil. Put waterbed heater under bike for additional help in starting when temps are 30* and below. Non heated garage. Spray S100 Corrosion Protectant on all metal parts except exhaust and rotors.

Then cross fingers that it doesn't snow on Thurs., Fri or Sat. for our weekly brunch ride on Sunday. :)

I do the fluids and Seafoam. Give her a good polish. I wait until spring to do the radiator. Add a battery tender. Cover the bike with a light breathable cover. I use two sheets sewn together. If you store the bike in an unheated area, add a box fan to keep down condensation that happens with temperature swings.

If you do store it for the winter, get it up off the ground or at least put a barrier on the floor first. I use to bring home a large corrugated cardboard sheet and ride the bike on top of it.

Put a baggie over or steel wool in the exhaust.

rhino2, you had a TriGlide 45 years ago??? :)

vito, can't afford to go south. I still have a job. :(

Gary, When I read some of these posts, I am glad that I am no longer working and can't afford to move North:clapping:

Thanks for the tip from Quietrider on the box fan issue. One of my garages is un-insulated and would benefit from air circulation to prevent condensation forming on my metal parts in that garage.

What is this weird word "winterizing" I keep seeing? Worked for 1/2 a day at a job site today north of Philly. Then rode 200 miles west. Freezing rain for the last 100 miles. And a couple of white things here and there. 34'F. Supposed to be in upper 20's when I head into Altoona early tomorrow. Now if only the rain gear didn't suck. I would rather snow than freezing rain (why yes, that was said while I was holding a Monkey's paw).:qpnmt:

No, Thats the way i been putting my bikes up for the winter.....I had/have trike's since 2008

and ride them just about every day all winter....So there isn't any need to winterize them.....

Bob, maybe some day in the far future, I may be able to say the same thing, but I'm only 74 now so I have time. Besides I like cold weather - especially snow. Never cared for warm temps over the holiday season. Lived in Texas for 5 years, had to come back - couldn't comprehend water skiing at Christmas time. :) :)

I've never had the luxury of having condensation during the winter. When it goes below 32*, it stays there and never goes up until spring. :)

Yep, the Monkey’s Paw did it again. Within a couple miles of leaving hotel this morning, there was the remains of yesterday’s light snow showers still covering the ground. Why, there was even the first doofus of the winter who couldn’t be bothered to clean snow off his pickups rear cover....some, of course, small chunks of snow are flying off right at me.

Nice ride back to east 250 miles after finishing work in Altoona. Finally saw the sun this week.

Wow Gary! I feel like a bum having retired when I was 67 and now am 68 years young. You and some other folks are inspirations to me and I HAVE been considering going back to work because I did like what I did for a living. I am just a bit torn between all of my free time and the thought of having to be a more responsible human being. I do find that I am having a lot of fun riding around on my two trikes and using my Lotus 7 type car for cruising around and autocrossing it. We are also moving further South in Florida in the next few months and I am going to get serious about doing more stand up paddleboarding. It's funny but I have met a bunch of folks who think that warm weather really stinks at certain times of the year. Having grown up in sunny Southern California as a youngster and having lived there for my first 30 years, I am just used to not being limited by weather most of the time. Different horses for different courses. ;)

I hope there all ballanced out

Me too and I'm just looking at a picture of it. LOL

Way back in the day, my favorite was the Lotus Europa. A friend at the office had one. I drooled every time he drove it to work. :D

I always wanted on, but eventually settled on a 1971 SAAB SONNETT II.

We don't get much of the white stuff down here...and no salt when we do.

It is fun to ride in, the little bit that we get. Not sure that I would like it everyday...in fact, pretty sure I wouldn't.

But Mary and I have been enjoying riding in cooler weather, more that the hot weather, the last few years.

Keven. Seriously, you are just too cool.

1. Pack a change of cloths.

2. Lock up house.

3. Ride south.

<wink> even a bird knows that.

Not if that bird has a job!! :)

Besides I LOVE the change of seasons - especially "SNOW" :D

Water skiing on Christmas doesn't cut it - - -at least for me.

I did my annual Jan. 1st Freeze Your Ass Off ride monday. When I left it was -6 degrees F. Don't know what the wind chill was at 55 mph. Unfortunately at the last minute I couldn't find my heat controller for my jacket liner (still can't). I decided to go anyway and see how far I could get. Normally we go 30 miles which usually takes about an hour. I only made it 15 miles before I started to get uncomfortable so I stopped at a biker pub for lunch. It was better on the way home - after all it was 3 degrees warmer. LOL

So that was my coldest ride so far. If the heated gear had been working, who knows how far I could have gone.

Quoted from the Trike. "Oh hell no".
