Winter is a cruel Mistress !

I live in the Charlotte Metro region just for reference, known for mild winters and hotter than the gates of hell summers with temperatures and humidity racing to see who can get to 100 first. This winter though has been particularily vexing. Normally we get some cold weather, then go back to riding with leather, then a little rain or freezing precip, then back to riding. This year, if it's been warm enough to ride it's been raining like Noah and the ark. If it's been clear, well...since we normally don't have heated suits, let's just say it's cold enough to freeze your begonias. I don't see how you guys up north put your bike away every year and get it out 4 or 5 months later to ride. Holy smoke ! And you guys in California and FLorida...just shut up...nobody asked you anything ! lol...

SO how are you getting by with not riding? Me, I am tinkering and cleaning, playing the three word game, reading and riding when I can. I'll be a better trike rider next spring because of you guys and girls and I thank you for that. Now come on spring

Can't wait for spring myself :) im getting ready to pull my 14 triglide apart and change the handlebars i got me some 13" LAchoppers primeapes with new mirrors and levers. cant wait to see what they look like :pepper:

Easy...
Electric jacket and the proper gear and I ride every day, I use my trike as an every day vehicle, Except when I have to pick up a few 2 by 4's, Then I take the Ram.. ThumbUp
It also helps if your a little bit crazy:xzqxz: Last year the town DPW Supervisor said to me We're out there plowing the roads and you're out riding your trike, What's up with that??
I just tell him 'If you would get up a little earlier and plowed the road sooner I wouldn't get in your way...:D

I am not worthy Sir. I am not worthy !

Okay I'm from central California and I'll shut up.. Hehehe:laugh: But I sure in hell wish it would rain more, they are saying that this could be driest January on record. Not good at all.. We took a ride last Saturday the weather at 3000 ft elevation was about 65 degrees fantastic riding, when we got down to 500 foot level we just about froze our buns off, close to mid 50s... 99% of the time it's the reverse????

Would love to ship you some of our rain. My back yard squishes when you walk on it. Any slight rain at all results in puddles. Neighbor has a small lake in his front yard because his pipe under his driveway plugs up. Driveway is slightly higher than the yard and he gets two lakes beside his driveway. On the plus side, we have caught some nice catfish in there and two of the local flight attendants went skinny dipping last week. We made $487 charging admission. We asked them to come back but they threatened to call the police if we didn't leave them alone !

70's here today and tomorrow, but turning cooler later in the week. We're just waiting for the other shoe to fall - a three day ice storm or something like that. Never can tell what February will bring. Can't really relax 'til late February or early March.

Well from just north of the border from where you are (Mooresville, NC) I agree the weather has been it's normal weird pattern this winter but I've gotten a lot of riding in. Even if it's just back and forth to work almost everyday this year. I too do not have P.M.S. (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) and really feel for those up in the Northeast right now. The way it's snowing they may get their bikes out by July or August. Can't wait to put some serious miles on the trike this spring and summer.

Finally someone as normal as me!:xzqxz:

What do we do all winter?....umm, let me think.......Oh yea. WE FREEZE!!! And when it makes it up to 30f We tell each other how nice it is to have a warm spell. :AGGHH:

I feel your pain
So in the spirit of brotherhood,
I hearby invite you to come visit western
Kansas along about the end of July when the
temps are over 100 degrees.
(I WILL ALSO THROW IN A LITTLE KANSAS WIND)
But don't worry, its a DRY HEAT snicker.
Either that or the next time we have a little
drop in the temp to ZERO degrees
feel free to drop by.

BUT it was 77 degrees today. LOL

Ride all winter and love it. That said, just finished clearing the 2 ft of snow here on Long Island. So bad here, I am flying up to Buffalo tomorrow for some milder weather and less snow.

The reason most people can't/don't ride in the winter is simple, You have to acclimate your body to the freezing temperatures, At the end of July take a ride twice a week to your local beer distributor and sit in his freezer box for 15 minuets and slowly increase the times to an hour' So by the time winter rolls along...You will become an expert at all weather riding..
And as an added bonus 'if while you're acclimating to the cold in the beer cooler and you decide to start drinking the beer then you'll also become an expert at Ice fishing...

Or more than likely your nuts and don't know enough to come in out of the cold...

A few years ago we stopped in Skaneatles NY . We told the cashier we wanted to ppronounce the name of the place where we were and could she say it slow so we could understand it? she said sure....Buurrrr guuurrrr Kiiiinnnnnggggg.

You northern folks sure have a sense of humor

Ok Steve: I'm not from Calif or Fla. So I guess I can say that our weather this yr sucks compared to last yrs winter. This Jan you has been a bit wet and Chilly :(... But we do manage to get in some ridin around here in the Phoenix area. But it has been a cool winter. Temps mostly in the high 60's & low 70's. Not bad for January out here. If you from the great white north.. This southwest Sun is a lot Hotter then the temps would indicate. Probably like that in Fla at times also. Being from Minn this is FANTASTIC weather :D.. But here we go again this week calls for rain tonight into Fri and clearing early Saturday morning. A lot of people out here for the Super Bowl I bet are some what disappointed. But at least they don't have to shovel anything out here ThumbUp
