Winter Coming

Well boys and girls, like it or not winter will soon be upon us. For many that means we will be spending a whole lot more time inside. It also means that it is time to charge up the e-reader (kindle) and settle back for some good reading time. To this end, I would like to recommend to all the following 2 series written by David R Lewis: (1) The Trail Series - an 8 book group that would probably be considered a shoot-em-up western and (2) The Crockett Series - 7 book group that I consider "cops and robbers" with a little para-normal thrown into the mix.

Your reading recommendations will be welcomed.

Winter has arrived here with winds gusting to 60+mph and some snow today. Temps are in the low 30's and heading for the cellar. It's still 3 weeks before our planned exodus from the north for some trike riding in the Texas Hill Country for a few months.

grandpa Dave.....if you havn't already, check out Larry McMurtry"s westerns and others....I like them all! Larry

I’m in Center ND, very little snow more sleet like but the wind has been outrageous. Had to go into Bismarck and my CRV was all over the road!

It's getting cold in Ohio, had hail stones falling a couple of days ago and the heat is on tonight. Its 37* right now.

Lots of agreement on winter being on its way, thanks for that. I believe I have already read all of Larry McMurtry's books but I will check on it, several of them are worthy of a re-read anyway.

On the book side, I'm an old fan of John D. MacDonald, but his stuff might seem a bit dated now. For sy fy I like Niven and Pournelle. For Westerns it was Louis L'amour. A lot of his stuff ended up as movies...

What is this winter thing:p

Cold front here in Jax FLA

Unusual colder than normal but not as bad as the folks up North are facing

I hate Snow and cold

still riding

I am going to try and make it to the middle of Nov. If I can...I have a down snow suit that I can wear when it gets in the 20's... But usually by that time there is salt or brine on the road which keeps me from riding. Time (and weather) will tell. To be honest, I wont mind the slow down for a while.. like a couple of months only LOL

They're calling for snow this morning in Bellaire, Ohio and the temp is down to 37* as I type this. :cold:

The oil boom brought us a lot of imports that were whining and crying to go home the first time it got cold. I always hope for a tough, hard winter to drive out all the riff raff. It got down to 12 the other day and I thought that will get them started. Give me a good two week stretch where it doesn't get above -20 and there will be an exodus.
