Wife wants her own trike.

I rode for years but quite 15 years ago. My wife always wanted to ride but after having her bike fall a couple of times she had me sell it. Now she wants a GW trike. She is 5'2" 118 lbs and 64 years old. She has the desire but is there anything we should consider that would nix her plan? Any other ladies drive a GW trike. Thanks. By the way I'm all for it.

There are several ladies on here that ride GW trikes. If you are supportive of it, there is no reason at all why your wife shouldn't pursue it! We welcome both of you to Trike Talk!

When my wife and I purchased our 92 GoldWing Trike, the first thing she learned was to drive it. Now I have to drink the beer she buys me, so she can drive home. We love the trike and she is an excellent rider. If you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me.

Go 4 it I am teaching my best friend Widow how to ride his trike he left behind. She is 67 and 5 feet tall 140 lbs. She flies around with the 1800 Champion. if she already y has the license and has ridden a 2 wheel motorcycle it is a piece of cake. 1/2 in the parking lot and she will be good to go.

I'm not a GW rider, but I only started riding in my 50s. As long as your wife can mount and dismount and work all the controls, there's no reason she shouldn't be able to ride a trike. Well, I guess it will help if she can see the road.:D

Let us know what kind of trike she gets!:D

have met lots of ladies on the road riding wing trikes-some in their later 60's on up to their 80's. one lady in her mid 70's had just got back from tail of the dragon, and said she had a blast! so, if she's willing-go for it! my .02

My wife rides a Stallion started when she was 61. No reason not to go for it. The GW is a very easy trike to ride.

My wife quit her bike for the same reason, it was war every time I tried to get her to ride again, so I sold it. She got a Stallion and now goes everywhere on it, best purchase we ever made.

So my vote is go for it, try some different trikes out, get some training, find a friend or two to practice ride with, then PUT IT IN THE WIND.

Printed this off and showed it to the wife. She said, "Please find me a trike". I found a dealer here in colorado who will let her drive it around their parking lot. So we are headed there Saturday. I was there today and drove a couple of them. Both Goldwings 1800 with "Motor Trike" kits. One was raked the other not. At the speeds I was doing I couldn't feel much of a difference but the racked unit put the handle bars back a little more. That will make it easier for the wife to reach. Anything good, bad, ugly about Motor Trike. It felt ok to me. But I think it will take some real road time to decide. The bike is a 2008 base unit. There asking 28,500. It's got 4500 miles. Is that a reasonable deal?
And thanks again for all your support.

Motor Trike is a good company as most of the name brands are. The price I am not an expert on. If you can have her check out a Stallion see if that is her cup of tea. Automatic more secure feeling. Familiar controls. Ted

Just make sure you get "Eze Steer". I rode about 3000 miles without it. Then put it on this spring. It is a true "day and night" difference!
Ride on!

I ride a GL1800 Goldwing trike w/MT conversion and would not trade it for anything I have ridden. I didn't have a lot of problems steering, (previous trike was Boss Hoss) but hubby had our mechanic install the MT 4 degree raked front end and it is nice. I'm 65 and ride the entire US, mostly solo. Just got back from Kerrville and I'm headed to the Women's AMA conference in Colorado this month. Tell your lady to go ahead and take the plunge. She will never be sorry!

Thanks to everyone for their words of encouragement. We got her a bike today. :yes:We went to the dealership and she rode it without any problems. She really liked the Stallion but we discussed it and finally settled on the Honda Goldwing 2008 Motor Trike. We will pick it up next week after they put a couple of things on it. I'll post a picture when I have one. Again thanks.:D

Woo Hoo!!!! Way to go! I like people who make decisions and move on them :D. Congratulations to you guys. This will be a looooooong week though!

I picked up her trike Thursday. She was at work and I rented a trailer and got it. The dealer is Unique Rides, Inc. located in Ft Collins, Colorado. I think they did a really nice job. They are located about 125 miles away and the wife was expecting to go after work to pick it up. She was surprised when she opened the garage door and there it was. What do ya think?

What a wonderful, joyous picture!!!! You have made her VERY happy, I can tell :D. And the trike is beautiful!!!! Congratulations.

Hi....I waited until 65 to get endorsement on 2 wheels and then, promptly!!!!, bought a GW and triked it with champion. Bought the bike on the internet. With my brother's asssitance, when to Chanute,Ks to pick it up and drive home to Detroit area in Michigan.

Best thing ever. Have had it for 2 years and have put on 14,000 miles plus more with the rest of this summer's travels -- even with Michigan weather. I WOULD STRONGLY ENCOURAGE any woman who wants to travel and enjoy riding to get your own! It even works with grocery shopping and a quick run of the errands we all have.

Hel 'n wheels...name given to me with the "just a trike" group since my name is Helen! ("Wife" may end up with a new name...wow)
