Hey guys and gals

going to have to put a kit on my sportster. Old legs. Any way, been looking at the trip trike kit, the tow pack and the voyager. As much as I would like to do a "proper" conversion, the money is just not there. So, was wondering if anyone has had experiences with these or others. Would really like feed back from where others have gone before. Installing any of the training wheels should not be a problem, have a little bit of mechanical knowledge, even went to old style school where they taught me how to read. Want to thank all in advance for whatever anyone is willing to share.

Thanks

A friend had them on his Sporty. Eventually he went with a full on trike, but for the most part he was satisfied with the Voyager kit he had. If he wanted to, he could take the kit off in just a few minutes.

The auxiliary wheels were set just a little bit up from the stock wheel, so only one of them was on the ground at a time, and sometimes neither one was on the street. Not sure if that is the way they work or if his wan't set correctly. On curves, his bike leaned away from the turn a tiny amount. The wheels were wide enough apart that he has a set of saddlebags on the bike.

One of the negatives was low spots and potholes. We stopped at a gas station, and when we went to leave he couldn't move. Seems he'd parked over a low spot and the outrigger wheels were holding the rear driving wheel off the ground.

Thank you so much. I know the low spots can be a problem. But I really appreciate the time and trouble to help me make a decision. The people hear seem to band together to help each other out. I like that idea a lot, we need that more and more at this time in our country. Again thanks. jim bob

If you look you can find some good deals. I bought my wife’s 2007 sportster with a Frankenstein kit installed for $5300.

Thanks. if I knew now .... Already have my sportster, and the Frankenstein is about twice what the tow pack is and over twice the trip trike. Not sure that Social Security is going to be giving out any raises anytime soon. Since I don't want to go into debt on this, going to have to get best that I can afford. just cannot see going champion or franken any time soon. I got pretty thick skin so if someone wants to tease me about my training wheels, come on, at least my momma doesn't dress me funny. ( for all the snowflakes out there, that is just a joke)

Any way, thanks for all the really great words of wisdom, keep'em coming. In the eternal words of the ex wife, I need all the help I can get.

Nothing wrong with working within your budget. There is a current thread with a member installing a tow pac that you might want to check out

Jim, its all about riding

No one here is going to hassle you

In fact just the opposite

A voyager kit IMO would be your best bet 4 now

Saving money today is hard to do specialy on a fixed income;)

Jimmy. I purchased a 2001 Honda Goldwing a couple years ago that had a Tow-Pak kit on it. I felt that it was very stable and provided a smooth ride. The one I had, had 13" wheels. I understand you can get them with 14" wheels now. I sold it a few months after I got it, and went back to a 2 wheel Harley. Now I have 2017 Tri-Glide. Hope this helps. Jerry
