I would have had some fun with this dealer, the 1st question I would ask is are you telling me I need to run Harley Davidson oil to maintain my warranty. If he would have made the mistake of saying yes, my next question is are you going to provide the proper Harley Davidson oil free of charge since it is a requirement for maintaining my warranty. Depending on how he answered that question would have been how hard I would have continued to work on twisting his tail. My final blow would to let him know I will be contacting Harley Davidson about his adamant requirement to run only Harley Davidson branded oil, we would also have a discussion about the Magnuson-Moss warranty act.
I don't know why he is like the way he is. I need a tape recorder the next time I'm in. I have a very hard time with his service manager that many, many people have complained on. But they keep him, why I do not know. So, I'll try another dealer. I thought about shortly will be my 5,000 service and I'll talk to him first and see what he says....never fear Sony is near.
There is a dealer exactly 4.5 miles from our house, Old Road Harley. Used to be Van Nuys Harley. Moved out here 6 years ago. Wife and I buy T-shirts there, nothing else. We ride to Antelope Valley Harley. 42 miles from here, a beautiful ride through the canyons. Jen, the service manager NEVER questions anything we have told them wasn't right. We drop the trikes off for service, walk 1/2 a block to Denny's or Crazy Otto's for breakfast and the trikes are usually done when we are. Excellent service, great personnel. Being the closest dealer doesn't mean they are any good, just close. Personally I don't believe in second chances when the Service Manager and store management have given you as much grief as they have.
Good Luck
