My golf cart trailer measures 5 feet wide and 8 feet long. My questionis, will the average GL1800 trike fit on it for transport? If not what size will it take to transport a trike?

Thanks for the info..

A 5' x 10' will work for some, other's will need a 6' x 10'. It will depend on which conversion kit you have. Some are wider and longer than others. Hope this helps. Jay A.

My GL1800 with a California Side Car kit measures 5 feet 3 inches wide and is 8 feet 2 inches long (front tire to rear of trunck). An 8 foot trailer will handle it, but part of the trike body will hang out the back. I have the EZ steer and that is what made it just a little longer. I use a 6' X 12' tilt bed trailer and I have room to spare.

I have a 6 X 10 tilt trailer that works fine, plus I mounted the front wheel chock 18" out front of the actual trailer bed to get more tongue weight.

You might want to check out my picture file to see what I modified to haul my trike on.

I have a 6x12 enclosed with roof vent that I had installed when I bought it - it's basically my garage but can haul with my jeep if the need arises. It's big enough that I can do limited work on the trike inside it. Towed the Deuce to Conroe then back as a trike, but otherwise it pretty much stays put. I figured long term it might be nice to haul the trike to places that might be too far to ride.

Very nice setup!
Two questions:
1. Would this trailer have worked lengthwise without the modification?
2. How did you get the bike on the trailer??

Thanks,
Konrad

Propably would have. I'm thinking he positioned it to get the correct amount of tongue weight?

It's a tilt trailer.

Konrad,
The trailer would not tilt back down with the added weight of the trike kit
on the rear of my goldwing. In other words trike would not pass center point,
before I added the extension on the front.
To load trike, I just ride it onto the trailer. Works for me.

Deputydawg,
You are correct, I extended the nose to adjust the tongue weight.
Before extending the nose, I would have to sit clear up on the gas tank
in order to get trialer to tilt back down.
There was so little tongue weight that the trailer wanted to sway at
highway speeds. It now tows like a dream with about 200 lbs tongue weight
loaded.

I sell 15-20 trailers a year (most to bikers) . The most popular size for the closed trailers are the 6 x 10's 6' high single axle with drop style ramp doors .
personally, I prefer tandam axles
