Western mass

in our ongoing quest to find or retirement summer home we are being drawn to the Hidden Hills area of Western Mass. Wife is from Springfield so I'm looking for some mountain riding within a couple of hours of Springfield. Anyone know about this area?

A nice ride is from Springfield to Pittsfield passing through the mountain town of Peru on Rt 143.

I'd consider northern CT. to southern VT., even the NY. state line would be ok, stop at the CT. river.
