Well the new to me 2012 Tri is finally at its new home........

IMG_1888.jpgIMG_1890.jpgIMG_1887.jpg So here she is. Not the best pics but I'm really proud to call her mine. I've never owned a Harley and most might think it strange for a Tri to be my 1st but here is my introduction link that explains how she came to live here in Fla. https://www.triketalk.com/forum/threads/52772-Greeting-from-Florida-(Newbe)

A couple maintenance items to take care of, fluids change and a new front tire and she's ready for the road. I need to adjust the parking brake but I don't see that as a non road worthy safety item. Brake fluid master's looked good and were topped off and brake pads look good.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Terry, Congrats on receiving that great looking trike!

You didn't say how many miles? But at a minimum get a set of the 2012 Touring Service and Trike Supplement Manuals. Then you can see the recommended service items and checks based on mileage. Enjoy!!

Nice looking ride seems well taken care of when you can pick up a shop manual and Triglide supplement just to have and help with anything that may come up. Parking brake adjustment is a simple operation with the supplement instructions be careful doing it and don't get it overly tight you will eat the rear brake pads off, I did it a little different for a while,DSC00566.JPG not all that pretty but it worked till I got to adjusting the lever. Enjoy the ride we love ours. :good: Fred/Jeanne

Terry, that sure is a sharp looking machine. We wish you many happy hours of seat time. Gosh,it really is sharp. Love that color.

If I didn’t know better, I got to look in my garage to see if mine is still there

Good luck Terry and ride safe :clapping:

Terry I checked to new members thread and history of your machine God bless you and now it is a special ride for you. You may want to watch the heat there are several things you may want to do for the longevity of the motor and rider comfort just something to think about. again nice Tri. enjoy the ride and the memories. :good:Fred/Jeanne

Terry, I read your intro link, sorry for your loss.

And welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. Nice looking trike for sure. Take it slow & easy as you get used to it. They are a blast to ride! Just remember the rear end is much wider than when you are on 2 wheels, especially around curbs & gas pumps.

I just serviced my fw getting it ready in case warmer weather arrives in the next few months. Seriously though, i checked the moisture level in all hydraulic fluids. Brake fluid (front) was clear but tested 3% moisture. Rear brakes fluid clear but tested between 3- 4%. Clutch fluid filthy and 4% moisture. A little over an hour to flush fluids (my wife kept mc full while i vacuumed. Test ride revealed fluids definitely needed changing.

How do I test for a percentage value for moisture? I see the brake fluids are clear/clean but she's been sitting for a fare bit of time. I certainly have no problem placing a brake line flush on the agenda, especially because it's a safety concern.

IMG_1897.jpg This is the reason for the new tire that'll be here Friday :D , along with oil filter and the drain plug o-rings arrived today. Dang I like getting bike stuff in the mail.

So back the the tire. The only thing I can figure is he (FIL) locked it up at some point, the rear tires look great.

The unit that Jack Klarich posted is the same one I used. Simple to use.

Hi Terry

Welcome to TT from Minnesota. Ride for awhile before deciding what to add. Just ask a question here, and you'll get plenty of great information . :wave4:

Hydraulic flush

Another thing pointed out by Jack Klarich, in a previous thread, there is an overabundance of assembly lube in the master cylinder. It only took a minute to wipe it clean, but that is what made the clutch fluid filthy.

Welcome from eastern NC. Nice looking ride. I rode a Honda all my life and still own a VTX1300R. Wife and I made the 'mistake' of test driving a 2014 Triglide and instantly fell in love. It takes a little getting used to but now it's second nature. Wife loves the comfort of the Triglide. That thing is nice on long trips. Happy trails.
