I had this wee banter with a 1500 owner. I am sure that I am able on the 1800 to start the trike whilst in gear. I am sure that I managed this before but now I am unable to do it. Did I dream this up or did I really happen???
Come on all you mechanically minded folk out there, please give me an answer, as it's driving me daft!!
Can I or can't I start the trike with it in gear?

Did u install new grips lately? Did you modify or change levers. What is happening is the lever is not going all the way to the switch. if you listen very closely you hear 2 clicks the 1st is the cruise control shut off the 2nd is the started . Starter release.

I did change the levers about a year ago and I had them bent a little to help with my wee hands. I will take your info on board and check this.

The fix is to place a small shim someplace near the place the lever hits the button . I never did it so I can't explain how to do it If you bent the levers and now they hit the Grips even a 1/16 of an inch sooner that's the problem. FOR SURE I would almost bet that you can't cancel the cruise by pulling in on the clutch.
