Waiting - Waiting and more Waiting

Bit the bullet and bought a new HD TriGlide.
Am just waiting for it to be delivered and the
modifications to be made.:pepper:

Went for a quick test drive (?) around the
parking lot and the clutch was OH MY GOD
crazy hard. :AGGHH: And so modifications
are for the clutch and new handle bars to
move them closer by 1 -2 inches. It's a real
leap of faith spending this type of monies and just
hoping that the clutch is going to be enough
that my itty bitty hands are going to be workable.

Have wanted to make a cross country journey for
quite sometime and am gearing up for it as soon as
the trike is here and ready to roll. :woohoo:

Maybe will run into some from the trike talk forum
along the way. :Trike1: OOOOOPS just kidding will
steer to miss.

What a great memorial day weekend though just
knowing that my trike will be here in a matter of
days. :Flag: - Oh i ordered the Merlot color.

By the way the Stallion is for sale -- it's wonderful
but REALLY wanted to do the trip with more of the
motorcycle experience. Only have so much room
in storage so have to find the stallion a new home.

Are people here loving their HD TriGlides ? And have
any of you had to clutch modifications done and does
it make a big difference ?

Thank You
Harley owner in training . hahahahahah

Congratulations on the new trike and good luck in selling the stallion very quickly. Get in touch with Ironhorsepilot -- she is a petite lady with a triglide and has ridden it all over the place with a big ol' smile on her face. She can tell you what mods she made for her personal comfort -- I believe that one of them was installation of an easy grip clutch also.

Great thank you for this --- will indeed contact her...
Am glad to hear she is smiling and not driving with
a grimace from having to muscle it around.

There is someone perhaps interested in the Stallion - it's a
really nice unit but am more interested in the
shifting motorcycle experience. To me driving the stallion
is more like driving a go cart. Am very honest
with people on that. But it IS fun and may be the
absolutely perfect match for many. After all it's
all about the ride.

thank you for your post.

Oh the waiting can make you crazy, can't it? But it's soooo worth it. I'm a Honda rider, so my wait was waiting for the bike to be magically transformed into a trike by our very own Bazooka. That was more than 2 years ago, and I've had more fun on my trike than I could have imagined.

A good trip might be to the Trike Talk Rally in Maggie Valley, NC in June. Will you be there?

Am just itching to get on the road. Have been riding my Shadow 750 with a Trigg Kit and having a great time. It's just a bit small for long distance over the road though. Am not
sure about the rally being that it is at the end of the month and i really want to go across the US from Pompano to Los Angeles and up to Seattle. If it were at the start of the month would for sure be there with bells on. Am going to have to see how the time line plays out with all of this. If i don't make it to this one will be there for the next. Am
looking forward to meeting all the other Trikers that are equally as dedicated to this past time.

Want to say welcome to the TriGLide world! Yes, the clutch was a bear and I have small hands also. I ended up getting a Variable Pressure Clutch from AIM. I got the 84T and it helped a lot. But from what I hear the 70T is even better. If you search for VPC Clutch on here, you may be able to find the thread where we were all ordering these things. I'll try to find it, too. I still need to get my handle bars closer to me, and that will be next on my list of to do things. Right now, I am getting a manual reverse put on mine, because the 09 TG's had some issues with the reverse. I never had a problem, but a lot of people did. I spent all my money on cooling the bike down, making the clutch easier, reach seat ( which helps put you closer to the bars) and the reverse gear. Also, put on Vance and Hines slip on pipes and Power Commander V. When I take it in for service though, they always adjust my clutch and it makes it hard for me, so once we leave the parking lot of the HD dealership, Hubby readjusts it for me via the clutch cable. Hope this helps and wish you were going to Maggie Valley. Have fun on your cross country trip!

OK, Here is the link: www.triketalk.com/forum/harley-trikes/1334-aim-clutch-device-order.html

They are doing a couple of things to the clutch --- one is a different lever and the other some type of other clutch aide. So hopefully it is one of the ones that you mentioned. Am looking forward to meeting everyone from trike talk and it will happen if not this time then another. Man i hope they don't adjust the clutch to torture when i go in for service. Tried the closer seat but didn't like sitting on the gas tank, so am opting for the handle bars
first. Thank you for the link. Will check it out.

Good for you, big O.
I just got my 2011 TriGlide May 14th. Merlot Sunglo also. I immediately had to take off to a job visit in SoCal and just got back Friday, then the family showed up for the big weekend, so I only have about 150 miles on her so far. I'm not a big guy, and I'm old, but I don't have a problem running the clutch. My complaint is that neutral is a pig to find. Also the rear tires were set at 30psi (should have been 24-26) and the air shocks were flat. Took me 100 miles of bumps to figure it out!
Other than that I find it easier to drive than my sidecars were. Hang in there bro, it will get here!
John

The good news is that the trike is at the dealers now, but bad news is
the parts haven't arrived yet. Will definitely have it checked for right
air pressure. Going to take a few days to get familiar with the new trike
and then it's off across the USA. Can't believe the tour time is actually
in sight. Am going to go up just to take some photos and sit on the trike
tomorrow. Going to decide on some new bling pieces to make it my own.
Then Florida to California to Seattle and back. Now that's a nice first run.

I have V and H pipes, Throttlepak, reverse sensors, oil cooler and oil temp dip stick added, and of course Champion kit. Exciting. You are lucky travelling around America! What an adventure.

Here is what we did...

When we bought the 09 Tri Glide for my wife she could barely pull the clutch. ( Peripheral Neuropathy from Chemotherapy ). Harley said the trikes came with the "EZ Pull clutch system, so the dealer changed the clutch spring from the one for the 103 engine to the same one she had in her Deluxe. Worked great. Dealer said it may wear out earlier, but she can operate it. Next would have been the hydraulic clutch. I decided to 'trike it' so we ordered the same one you are waiting for. Merlot / Black. When it came in she could pull the clutch without any problem. Dealer said they came with a 'modified' spring because of all the complaints from the earlier ones. I ride the 09 now.

Anyway, something to think about. By the way, the Screaming Eagle Hydraulic Clutch isn't much easier than the cable clutch, try one before you spend the bucks.

Also did Reinhardt's, lots of 'winkin and blinkin' lights and a bunch of chrome.

If you get to So California, drop me a PM, wife and I would love to meet another triker. We are doing 4 weeks on August "west of the Mississippi".

Whah hoo --- Will be GREAT to meet up with you all along the travels... Have to write
down all the info and will update along the road. And am Always up for Starbucks am
just getting ready to fire up the shadow to head over for some coffee now. Can you
send me phone numbers so i can give a call when i get to your areas. The upcoming
ride is getting even better as we speak.
The trike MAY be done for pick up Friday. Then i start the breaking in period
and want to get at least a 500 mile start to familiarize and then flush the
engine with an oil change before starting off in earnest cross country.

Thanks to All who are responding am looking forward to meeting up
and riding the roads or just talking some stories.

The trike is in but the 2011 clutch as it is - is way to heavy so am going forward with
the modifications. One is yes the easy clutch and am hoping that it's going to be the
fix. Hopefully what they are doing is going to be enough as am really chomping at
the bit to get on the road.

Congrats on your new Trike. I also have the Merlot and black 2011 Triglide. I am finding that after the first 1000 miles that there was a H*U*G*E inprovement using syn3 in the Primary and Oil sump and using Redline in the tranny. I really love this trike. I thought that I wouldn't be able to get into the "zone" like you can when riding 2 wheels. But you can, this is a sweet ride albeit very HOT.

Will contact you when i get close to Portland... Looking forward to the ride and food
what a nice thing to have waiting. Will be contacting those who have sent invites and
am looking forward to meeting up. How nice. See you all soon.
