I found out just how good my reaction and the trike is yesterday. It ended up not raining so I went to the auto store and bought a roll of amber tape to put over the front turn signal since the cover went missing. I decided to take just a little ride close to home so I hit the highway and went 5 miles to the little town down the road and thought I'd cruise through and stop for gas and a soda.
I just got there and went over the tracks and turned left. I wasn't even at the speed limit and saw a guy come out of the volunteer fire dept and hop in a 4 wheel drive truck that I believe was running he threw it in reverse hit the accelerator fast and I knew he wasn't going to stop I hit the brakes hard, killed the engine and skidded and stopped mere inches from slamming into his bed of the truck. He threw it in drive and sped off fast, i blared the horn I was so shook.
I couldn't get started fast enough, no one else was around (its population about 900. I pulled into their lot as there was a white SUV sitting there and went to the door. There was a keypad so I couldn't get in so I knocked and no one answered. So since there is a keypad it had to be a volunteer fireman. They had a sign up with a phone number asking for volunteers so I called it and left a message. I drove around and did find one truck that looked like it with Dealer plates on it so I took a picture. Might be why he sped off so fast, not his truck.
I asked at the gas station and also some people sitting outside at their homes. Small towns are usually very helpful and friendly. No one knew who it was. I did find their facebook page (Witt Vol. Fire Dept in case anyone wants to read and like my post). Of course they have pictures of the firemen practicing on wrecked cars etc. But as a public servant he should have stopped and said he was sorry. Is he gonna leave people in a burning building or wrecked car and speed off? Not a decent public servant in my eyes.
Well Thunderstruck and I came out fine except I was shifting the greatest after that and decided to put it away guess my nerves were frazzled. Sure made me wish I had a biker whip on the handlebars to yank off and slam the bed of his truck with. Red head temper! I do now have 850 miles of the 1000 for the safety class and I drove my route in the car Sunday and found the location on campus.
