I have a GL1800 with RS trike conversion. Wife & I go on several days long rides anywhere from 200- 400 miles. About 1/2 the time I hook our trailer up for added room (and to have nice cooler) Maybe a bit ridiculous but we have found it handy. Otherwise it would sit all year except for couple week long rides. Anyone else do same? Figure I have it might as well use it.

Back in the olden days when I had a wife, saved a lot of money by not having enough room for souvenirs when out and about. When the Chinese virus scare had many restaurants only selling food for take-out, our group of riders took our own folding chairs and tables in a trailer. We set up our own picnics in restaurant parking lots and rest stops. They are handy.....

Sounds like a good idea to me……..

That's a great idea !!
We just bought a new Tri Glide and looking to get a trailer for overnight trips or to the mountains of Tennessee (from Fl)
We can't ride as far as we use to but still love to ride

Love mine. Before our trailer we had to carefully pack everything in it's place. Move this to get to that. Such a pain. Now throw it in & go

I too only tow my trailer, when needed on a couple days away from home Rallys...
Americade week
Trike rally in Vermont week (thanks Doug and John for make'n this happen every year )
Maybe Laconia week
The rest of the time it sits inside my backyard shed

Since you have, use it. You obviously don't mind hauling it, it is convinient, and that ice chest for snacks/drinks/picnic supplies adds a nice dimension to day rides. And if you decide to extend or it rains you gave extra clothes or rain gear handy.

We just got back yesterday from a week trip (Port Charlotte to mountains) on our Trike. We were gone 7 days and pretty heavily packed (no trailer). Two of our long riding days in the mountains on rural roads with no restaurants or stores. It would have been nice to have a cooler packed and some other stuff along with us but there just wasn't room to get it all up there from Florida. We may have to consider traveling with a motorcycle trailer at some point in the future also.

I just took mine out of the shed this morning. Getting it ready. Gonna take the bearings out and repack them. I don’t use it unless I need it. Leaving for a trip to MI in 15 days. I pulled it 2 weeks ago just to test it but it stays home mostly stored in a shed.

I have a trailer we don't use it every time we ride. But it does come in handy for trips, we also do picnic rides with our friends. We bring our camping chairs, tables and go to a park just for lunch.

I'm still not sure if a trailer is in my future. After posting yesterday I was thinking it would have been great to have one on our last trip. We would have spent more time on the Blue Ridge Parkway if we had a cooler and a couple lawn chairs along.

But then I started thinking (with the boss getting involved of course), we could probably find a high quality fold up cooler to take along for our next long trip just to utilize while on location. Plus, for $8 to $12 Walmart always has fold up bagged lawn chairs we could buy once we got where we were going. Upon packing up to come home we could just give the chairs away. Spending an extra $20 to $50 per trip would be a lot cheaper than everything involved in pulling a trailer, at least for us.

Actually, the best situation would be to travel with someone else that is pulling a trailer.....now there is an idea....

Well, in our group we have a saying. If you don't have room on your own bike, then you better leave it at home.

My Unigo trailer is just the right size for me, and I use it quite a bit. I use it for day trips because it's quicker and easier to store helmets and jackets when making a meal stop. I can hold the small bags for an overnighter and leave the bags on the bike for convenience items that I want quick access to. I can disconnect it from the bike and roll it into a motel room. I also hook it up for grocery store runs. It doesn't affect fuel mileage or handling. It tows really well behind the trike, and it was fantastic when I towed it behind the 2-wheeler.

For more than a one day ride we have hauled our trike inside an Ironhorse enclosed trailer, double towing a Bushtec trailer to Arkansas and Missouri with camping gear and an electric cooler in the pick-up truck. We pack hiking gear, food, drinks, first aid (IFAK), hats, rain gear, etc in the Bushtec. We ride the twisty mountain roads to a trail head where we change from riding gear to hiking gear and head up the trail. We can make a full day of riding and hiking before returning to camp where we have set up the Ironhorse trailer for sleeping quarters.

In Massachusetts I'm certain that DBL tow'n like that is against the law.......Only tractor trailers w/ special permits, are legally allowed, BUT only on the turnpike or highways......

Illegal in most of the NE States. I live in TX. Before I travel I always call and speak with a State Trooper or Highway Patrol Officer in the State I will drive through to find out if it is legal.
