Left for Denver Thursday morning. Got back Wednesday. Used 2qrts of oil again. About ready to get rid of this piece of crap & buy a BMW Z-4 sports car. It is still pulling to the right too. This is the 2nd time I've had to take it in for oil usage after a trip. Mike, maybe I should trade mine in on a Honda too. No, I couldn't do that. I'd rather have the BMW. Never had any problem with my 2004 Ultra. Wish I could have kept it. I would lose my ass with all the money I have in that trike. What a waist. Good thing I went on a trip or else I wouldn't have known it was going to use that much oil. I would have found out after my warranty was up in May. I talked to the owner of the dearship & he said call customer service. My wife asked if there was a Lemon Law & they don't know about bikes. I think she pissed them off cause the service manager walked away when she said that. I hope other people aren't having the same problems I am. I put 2500 mi. on it. Plus coming back through Iowa the radio display kept fading in & out. Now they are installing a new radio. Jim

2 qts. of oil in 2500 miles ? With no oil leaks, that's a lot of oil to be burning off.

What did the dealership say the first time you noticed the oil loss ?

Just wondering if the oil pump return line isn't keeping up with the oil feed line and sure hope that the "lost" oil isn't building up in the crankcase.

Depending on how they rebuilt it the 1st time they screwed the pooch could be the reason its using oil. If all they did was slap some new rings on a piston and call it a day I'm not surprised. When they built it this last time they should have checked the piston to wall clearance and honed the cyls if clearance permitted, if not then either bore them or replace them. I can sure feel your frustration, things shouldn't be this difficult, I'd look into the lemon law and possibly go that direction.

Had my 09 worked on for blowby through the air breather. Told me they put new rings on and replaced the exhaust valves in the motor. Did'nt do any good. Continually cleaning the K&N and cleaning up the bike. Changed stage one air systems.
Went from a Screamin Eagle to a Kuryakyn Street Sleeper II, not as bad because it has return tubes.
Guess I need to run a quart low like has been suggested. Have a hard time doing this.

Hey Mike, yeh they said they were going to honed the cyclinders the last time, but who knows. I was just saying today that they should bore out the jugs & put over size pistons in & be done with it. I should call to see if they have even looked at it yet. I hate to bug them. I'm sure they get tired of seeing the bike as much as I hate taking it back in. Yes they did install new relief vavles in the last time cause it blew oil out the air filter. They did tell me to run 1/2qrt low & I do. Mike, hope you have good luck with the Honda. I like the blue & the carbon. That is crazy looking. Thought I might run into pops when I was in Denver, but he must not have gone down there. Course that is a large area. Hope you guys are doing well. Jim P.S The owner of the dealership said they might be coming out with a Screaming Eagle trike next year, which would probably cost $60,000.

Just thinking? On the way to Denver were you riding 2 up? and how fast/hard to you like to run in sixth gear? Anyway, I had a 97 Road King that didn't use any additional oil but I went to Sturgis for the first time and after riding Needles and Irion Mountain a couple of days, I found that I was down a quart and a half of oil. I was worried because I was 900 miles from home. Anyway, I tried down shifting before running up the hills (when we were pushing a little) and found that I wasn't losing anymore oil. It's all up hill going to Denver? Just a thought? Just wonder if your using additional oil around town?

I hope they get it right for you this time, things shouldn't be this difficult. I'm hoping the Honda works out, it sure is smooth and loves to carve the corners. An SE trike would be neat but 60k is a boat load of money and not many would be able to take that kind of plunge.

Everytime I go on a trip I take the Boss. I don't use 6th unless I'm going 70-75. Yes it's uphill but gradually. Still shouldn't use that much oil. My Ultra never used oil like that. I had almost 30,000 on it. Wish I could find it & buy it back.

Your right on the money it shouldn't be using oil like that.
