Using Craiglist to shop for a new Ride

I read posting yesterday in the "Stallion Ad - WE'RE BACK" thread that moved me to action. A poster called "Big Dog" from Sarasota had lost his Stallion some months ago and was lamenting the recent announcement that production of new units was being put off indefinitely. So I did a nation wide search for used Stallions and posted a half dozen choices around the country.

Today I got a request via PM for how I did it and thought others might like to know about the free utility I have that can check every single Craigslist in one fell swoop. The short answer is go to Search Craigslist Efficiently - Free Craigslist Reader Pro | CraigsPal and down load their free Craigslist Reader Pro and start searching via key word(s); location(s); categories and pricing! Works great and I use it all the time.

You can also try this web site:

SearchTempest - The EASY way to search Craigslist

Allows you to do a similar search but you don't have to download anything to your computer. There are some ads to deal with but not too bad.

I've used them both and much prefer the Reader Pro. The interface is better and more importantly the list of hits is presented more effeciently IMHO. But they are free, so why not try them both and decide for yourselves?

While I would emphasize using due diligence when buying anything from Craigslist, or ebay for that matter, I will say that I did buy my Summer home in the mountains from a Craigslist ad. There are some good deals as well as you know what. Good luck on your search.
