Under-bike LED ideas/pics request

Hey all, tried a search beforehand, but had no luck.
I've been tossing around the idea or lighting up the trike like I had with my Street Glide, but with it being a totally different bodystyle (well, from the seat back anyway), I was wondering if anyone who's done it can post up some pics to help with ideas?
Also, my old setup was bits and pieces from Pep Boys cobbled together. It worked, and it looked great (got a trophy the last bike show I was in), but I'd like something made for the job out of the box, along with the features many come with (wireless remote, flashing patterns, etc)....any recommendations?

Thanks in advance to any/all that can help ThumbUp

Take a look at Custom Dynamics website. I'll bet you can piece together a system since you did it before. They also have some kits although not specifically for a Tri they would probably work.

heres some:cool:

Thinking this is how I'm going to do mine....although a different color (possibly the units with 7 colors). I like how it covers the wheels front & rear. Thought there would be more that had their trikes done, but searching has not been as successful as I thought.

I used a multi color set with usb connections, burned one, chunked it, back to working, then switched it to my trike, was working then took a crap on me, cut it off, into the tr5ash.

Looking to put new light kit on the trike, xglow sent me new listing, mmm, light kits work for me if they are not usb style.

What say you ???????

I installed LED lights on my previous Sportster-based trike. It got a LOT of attention at night.

I bought the parts from www.customdynamics.com, but there are a lot of other vendors out there, so shop around. Warranty length DOES matter ~ once in a while, one LED dies.

I didn't want to light up my trike like a Christmas tree (too many lights) or look like a carousal (multi-colored lights blinking on and off) After all, these are accent lights. I decided, early on, that I wanted to accent the engine, not the whole trike.

(2) strings "MagicFLEX 24 LED red lights 12 ~ 15" length under each side of the gas tank P/N MF24-Red
(2) 6 LED red modules (that point down at the ground, creating a "pool of light" under the trike.) P/N MF6ERDC
(2) 6 LED "MagicFLEX 6 LED red lights - one under the air filter case and one under the horn "cow bell" P/N MF6-Red

The thin wires were the hardest part. Remember, they're easy to mount with double-sided tape, but at some point, you're going to need to remove your gas tank and air filter canister. If you do-it-yourself, you're going to curse your installation IF you didn't add a few connectors to the light string. If someone else is doing your work (dealer, bike shop) expect to pay for an hour of labor time to un-wire / re-wire your accent light 'handiwork'.

Regarding the ground light modules, besides using the double-sided tape, I used black Ty-raps (2 per side) around the bottom frame rails, so they wouldn't fall off.

I have another brand but they are the same light name on the box is the only difference. The important part is the Creed light that is a quality long lasting light. The ones on the Internet that are from China ( much cheaper) do not have the same light and they do not last. From the reviews on several sights.
Have had these installed inside the rear fenders for about 1,000 miles with no problems.

in the past I didn't like this type lighting on a bike, but after seeing the photos in this thread I have changed my mind, I really like the look of the Sportster Trike.ThumbUp

I have one question, is there any laws about driving with these lights on? With a small amount of cops out there looking for any reason to give bikers a hard time I would hate to spend money on lights that can only be on when the bikes are parked.:gah:

In Pennsylvania, as of 2015, the answer is No problem. In PA, all safety inspections are done by private garages.

Other states = YMMV, so speak to your inspection official before committing $$ to your project.
