Ultra/Motortrike & Alarm

I have only ever had the warning flashes from new.... the alarm does not arm! Was wondering if it was because the trike does not lean any more?? [If you stood the bike up to push it away it would set off alarm]
Or shouldn't that make any difference??

The security system works different on a TG versus a 2 wheel bike because of the lean angle sensor. Do you just have the security system or is the smart siren installed also?? On a TG the system works as a 2 wheeler with a side car addition.

Not a problem with the trike, it sets off the if trike/bike is Jarred. On earlier bikes (my 05) you can adjust the sensitively but not on the newer ones (not sure when they changed). As LHM said change the key fod battery. I just added the siren to mine and love it.

All good.... Changed the battery and she's a go!

There is a new siren 2 made just for Tri Glide and fixes the problem. Most dealers do not know about it yet. You will have to have your dealer call HD in MI. I have one ordered after WPB HD called the factory. The part No. is not the same and its 10$ more. Mine should be installed Thurs and it is rolling to Bike Week Daytona, Good luck getting one, they are back ordered, Ray

Whats this about being is 1st when you turn the ing on?

TriGlides use a different bank-angle sensor in the factory alarm system as compared to regular two-wheel bikes.

If the TriGlide is not in first gear when the alarm system is deactivated (by turning on the ignition and having a key-fob present), the siren will sound.

HD issued a service bulletin (TT408) on this a while back. Here is the text of that bulletin:

Due to the fact that the Tri-Glide and sidecar models utilize a remote bank angle sensor in addition to the HFSM, the siren functions slightly different than other models.

If a siren is installed on a Tri-Glide or sidecar-equipped vehicles, the siren may sound when the ignition switch is turned on, even if the security system is disarmed. This will only happen if the transmission is in neutral or the clutch is pulled in.

To prevent the siren from sounding at key-on, be sure that the transmission is in gear when you turn the ignition switch to "ignition". You can then shift the transmission to neutral for start up and the siren will remain silent.
