trouble finding correct belt

I have a 09 ultra with a motortrike kit. We are changing the 32T sprocket to the 30T. Now don't know what belt to get. Got the shorter belt for tri-glide, but it is too wide for 09 ultra rear sprocket, which is 1 inch wide, but the tri-glide belt is 1-1/8 inches. Any ideas? Thanks.

You may have to do what I did on my 07 conversion to MT... remove the rear drive belt pulley and mill it to accept the wider belt. Never could find one that would fit.

Thanks Mr. Wizard. Do you know if the rear belt pulley for a newer tri-glide bolt up to my 09 motortrike so i wouldn't have to mill the one i have. Just thinking of other options. We might have found a belt from drag specialties, hate to order it and it be the wrong belt. Thank You.

I wish I could be of more help but I can only give you my thoughts at this point.

You would need to research to see if the rear pulley is the same number of teeth as the MT and check the bolt pattern to match the TG. I would doubt the pulley's are interchangeable since they have different rear end units.

When I went to the 30 tooth front pulley I had no other choice but to mill as I exhausted my research with a belt replacement. All I could find was a 1 1/8 wide belt short enough to work. It was a HD belt, sorry I don't remember the part number or tooth number.

Was lucky enough to have a HD independent contractor near me with a good machine shop. They removed the pulley and milled the inner retainer lip of the pulley 1/16 on each side to accommodate the wider belt. Worked like a champ.

If your 09 has the 68 tooth rear pulley, you don't need to do a belt swap with their kit. I've done a few of the front pulley changes on Motor Trike kits (with their IRS conversion) and their rear differential has enough adjustment in it to accomodate the smaller pulley with stock belt.

Most people I've talked to has used a "specialty" belt through drag specialties that's only a few cogs shorter, and the same width as the 09 belt (they've mostly used this for the 07-08 with a 66 tooth rear pulley from my understanding though).
