Trike Rotor on 2012 Road Smith

Have strong reason to believe I have a warped right rotor on my Road Smith, does anyone on this forum know of substitute rotor that will fit? Those RS rotors are way expensive. Nope, don't know why it's warped, I'm easy on the brakes.

I think I have one too but have been too lazy to remove hub and take to brake shot to turn down.

Since these are VW hubs with integrated brake drums I don't have any idea if there are matching replacements any cheaper. Maybe you could have them turned down?

NOTE: For me this is not a DIY project as the hub nut requires a torque of 250 #/ft. When I had my hubs replaced under warranty for different issue I took to local mechanic shop and showed them how to lift trike. They replaced the hubs for me.

They could just as easily have removed them and turned them down so that may be the easiest way for you to resolve problem.

Before you do any of this I would suggest you remove wheels, thoroughly clean disc, and clean/lube the brake pad slider pins.

I think I will investigate turning the rotor first, everything you have mention has been done. Those rotors are huge, so turning one should not be a problem. In my dreams I cannot imagine how one could become warped in my world of easy riding, but there it is, I cannot believe it can be anything else, but the symptoms are there. Think I will investigate disconnecting the hand brake, it could be binding, but don't think so, the rotor is never hot to the touch if I don't use the rear brake on a trial run. Don't use the hand brake anyway, to me, it's useless.

bikerbillone, does it feel like it's pulsating when you apply the brakes?
I would remove the rear wheel and check the run out on the rotor before any disassembly.
Then as already suggested, clean the rotor.

Yes, distinct pulsating, especially a very slow speed while applying the rear brake. Yes, as previously noted, rotor has been cleaned, at least that's what the independent guy told me. Perhaps I should get a different opinion, or 're-clean' it myself. Good suggestion. I have some good brake cleaner on hand, I'll be doing that today, certainly can do no harm.
