Trike Mileage.......Got to Thinking

If a trike conversion unit is added on a existing older two wheel bike with miles, is there a way to tell how
many miles were put on the conversion unit after it was added?

Does the trike installer record the miles on the original installation receipt?
Ever hear of anyone using a wheel hub like the 18 wheelers use to record their trailer mileage?

When I got my trike I started a spread sheet to keep track of the mods and maintenance on the trike and the first line on the spread sheet is the mileage as it showed on the odometer the day I got it. That gives me the mileage on the conversion.

Your going to have to depend on the people that had the trike. Even if it was built by a installer and written down they might have keep it and they most likely didn'y.

I have spread sheets for all my bikes/trikes
I use photos for mileage and service done. All the rest is just noted with dates and a copy of the receipts for any accessories or parts

I would imagine for warranty purposes, the mileage is on the original agreement paper work.

When I purchased the 1800, the prior owner had the paperwork from the initial sale of the bike, and the MT installation paperwork. Just luck, as he had put it in the lower compartment of the trunk & forgotten about it.

I own a CSC conversion and it has a vehicle ID number on the bill of sale. I'm not sure where exactly it is on the actual unit. I would call the manufacturer of the conversion kit and ask them where the number is located. Once found they should be able to tell you the year of installation. That will maybe give you some of the information you requested.

I have had home builder owners picking up used or wrecked kits and putting them onto newer bikes with less mileage.

To answer OP's question, most manufacturers have the builder register the conversion and mileage and VIN are included in that registration. You could actually call the conversion manufacturer with your VIN number and get the mileage at build.

Yeah, just stop thinking so hard. Go for a ride and just enjoy the trike and don't worry about the miles that it's been and think about the miles you are enjoying now

amen to that we did not buy our trikes for the MPG but for the enjoyment. As long as its fair MPG enjoy and RIDE
