Baker Built claims their trike wings ( leg wings ) will improve gas mileage. Can anyone verify this with real world experience?

When we got our GL1800 it had a full set of Baker wind wings on it. Hand wings under the mirrors, Windwings with upppers at the side just in back of the radiator vents and Trike Wings. (They also make Leg Wings for 2 wheel 1800's, a smaller version of the trike wings) Don't know about the gas milage, as I haven't ridden with them off, but I can see where they would direct air out and away from the rear fenders, maybe lessening some drag.
I can report they do seem to keep the bugs off. After a ride there are hardly any bugs on the rear fenders, as opposed to our old 1500 - the fenders would be just as full of suicidal insects as the front and windshield were, especially after an evening ride.

If you're not sure what the heck this is about, here is a link to the leg/trike wings page on the Baker website:

Leg/Trike Wings

Don't have the foot wings. anyone know if they work keeping you warmer or dryer?

I have used a trike with the wings on it ( 2008 GL1800 ) For about 300 miles.. I really didn't see any huge or for that matter tiny MPG increase. The wind protections for riders was better if you tuned it in. I do the same ride about every other month and there is freeway and some hills and some two lane. I stopped for gas at the same places with what I think is the same amount of gas in the tank. The best MPG trike I ever rode was a 2010 Harley Ultra with Floor boards, and while it had a 6spd tranny I didn't use 6th gear much at all. I think the range for me was about 155 on a gl with the harley being 30 miles better. Mind you none of this is etched in stone and it was not so much a test as much as it was an observation.

Trike wings, and the leg wings on a 2 wheeler, on a Goldwing GL1800 and 1500 attach to the engine guards at the front to the cylinder bank. They are something like the lowers on a HD, are to push air, bugs and debris away from your feet and lower legs. The trike/Leg Wings don't open or close, they are just there and set. Have no idea about gas mileage but they do seem to keep the rear fenders cleaner, just like my chaps are less bug-laden when I put the soft lowers on the engine guards of my FLHS.

I have all the Baker Wind Wings on my Champion, mirrors, fairing and trike leg wings.
They are a good investment.
I don't know about mileage because they have been on since day one.
They keep my rear fenders few of bugs and stone chips.
