Possibly pulling the trigger on a Road Zepplin this winter. Found a PDF file with the installation instructions, it states to install seat in accordance with the service manual.
Are there really any special installation requirements?

Quite simple, Just find the accessory electrical outlet just behind the tank & in front of the ECM area to plug the seat into. Then install the seat in reverse of the way you took the old seat out.
One thing tho, I would keep the old seat to put back on if you ever sell the Trike. It will never get you anything from a dealer to trade it in.

I just put one on mine a couple weeks ago... It took 10 minutes..easy job. Fantastic Seat !!!!!!

I had the stock seat taken off before i took my trike home.
I had the tall boy seat installed sets me back about 2' and the leg room is great for me now pick up my trick the 1st part of March and it has 8,000 on it now and seat fits great

just talked to a parts department person today, and he was saying that the Zepplin seat is not worth the price. He has heard from customers that the Hammock seat was getting better reviews from other customers. I am kind of leaning towards the Zep, due to changing the cushion with a push of a button. But, what i have read here, and other forums, it is a steep price, but worth it.

I have an Ultimate "Tall Boy" seat and I can confirm that they are well worth the investment. Not to mention that their prices are good.

Many dealers have a tryout seat in the big touring seats. Have them let you try one out before buying !
No one has the same rear end ! Nor do they have the same hurts & pains ! The seat might be the best on the market for one person, but not worth taking home for another !
These RZ seats are the best I have found for a long time in the saddle, but sometimes I also use a sheep skin to help with the sweat in the summer, & cold in the winter. Not nice in the rain !
These seats are much too expensive for a dealer not to work with you ! Make sure they do !

Sloufoot, that's what I've been trying to say for years. Everyones butt is different so just because Joe Schmo loves his Mustang/Pere/Saddlemen etc seat doesn't mean someone else is going to like the exact same seat. These are all off the shelf seats - they are not custome made.
Yes the RZ seat is a little more expensive then most, but look at it this way - you are buying a infinite number of different seats and each one is custom made for YOUR BUTT. Personnally I think it's worth it's weight in gold. pepper
You're absolutely right about the demo seats. They even have demo windshields too.
Never tried a sheepskin. To me they look grungy and smelly but many riders swear by them. My butt is kinda numb when it comes to heat and cold - neither one affects me........just pressure points.

Sparky, maybe that parts person has a bunch of other seats he's trying to unload since they are not selling well. :Shrug:
At least he didn't say it wasn't comfortable. If he did he would be the first person to do so that I know of.
Like I said a while back, if you buy a seat, you really won't know for sure if it's going to be the right seat for you for hundreds of miles and at that time you won't be able to return it and try another seat - then go through the same thing over and over again until you finally find one you like. None of that would happen with the RZ seat.
On the other hand there are lots of riders that have said the seat they bought is perfect for them right out of the box. They are the lucky ones. ThumbUp

I was always a Mustang seat person. I have found the stock one on 11 TG to be fine for my "bottom line" this go around.

I have a RZ. Very comfortable. It's wide though. Not a problem for the rider, but some passengers might not like the leg position. Their legs have to go around this wide rider section. If you regularly carry a passenger, I'd have them try it also.

I had an RZ demo on mine for about 3 weeks. Lots of time to decide if I liked it or not. I do, my wife loves it too, so I bought one.

I have always had Mustang seats and the have always been good for me. That's my suggestion.

Love my Road Zeppelin because the air pressure is adjustable on the fly and being three inches wider than stock, my fat a-- fits a lot better.

Big diff between stock and Sundowner! Yes, your butt sits lower in the "pocket"...you won't be sitting higher on the back. Get a standard touring backrest (they all fit TG's). You may have to get a shorter windshield though (I opted for KlockWerks 8.5") I added a sheepskin cover on mine thru the HD dealer (Mustang brand) which keeps you cool in summer, warm in winter and rain won't penetrate. You will be able to ride all day without a sore tailbone..at least that's been my experience...having ridden over 40K on one. Stock seats are made so buyer will upgrade! You won't be disappointed in the Sundowner. Don't sell you stock seat or give it away...don't ask me why.
