My friend has a 2013 Tri Glide, on Monday he was in a funeral procession using his flashers. After parking and going to the grave site he realized he left his flashers on, so he tried to turn them off, but they wouldn't turn off regardless what he tried.

So, he turned on the ignition and there were no lights no anything not even the que " enter pin". He tried turning it on and off a couple times, but strangely the flashers were still on, so he called me and I told him to check the battery cables first, then replace the key fob battery which he did. still nothing, so I said pull the 50 amp fuse and wait a few minutes.

Still nothing other than the flashers turned off, so they went to get a truck and trailer loaded the trike and took it to his house, once home he unloaded it and tried to start, and it fired right up like normal. This a new one on me. 1. checked battery cables. 2. changed fob battery. 3. pulled main fuse.

My guess is the flasher system got overloaded and probably burned some wires and or destroyed the flasher causing a melt down... Lectricity is a funny animal.

This same thing has happened to several folks - even me. If you have your flashers on, you cannot turn them off unless the bike is on!

In the case of a TriGlide, you can't simply turn the key on, you have to start the bike. Unique to the TriGlide, to start the bike you have to hold the brake down.

So, in his case, get on the bike - turn it on, hold the brake and start.

Also, when this sort of thing happens, there is a waiting period to resent. I can't remember how long. My TPMS lights were not working right - had added air. I kept resetting and then the bike would not start. Had to wait for that short period - bike reset itself and then started just fine.

Thank you, I passed this info along to my friend.

Thanks for your answer, I wonder how many TriGlide owners know this?

I agree that the ignition must be ON in order to cancel the emergency flashers. But I've had three different TGs and none of them required the engine to be running to cancel the emergency flashers - just have the ignition on. Really that makes no sense. If you ran out of gas or had a problem and turned on your flashers and could not get the engine to start back up then the flashers would just keep going until the battery ran down or was disconnected.
