Tri Glide Brake without funktion

Hy Harley Fans,
i am from Germany and owner of a Tri Glide Ultra Classic from June 2011. The Moto was 4 months standing in the garage. Yesterday I would drive with the trike, but the brake pedal can pressed until the bottom and the brake is without funktion. Driving is impossible. I have to bring it to the Harley Dealer.
Is there someone with the same Problem and what is the reason ? I know that the brake switch should be changed, may be therefore is air in the system ?
Many thanks best regards from Günter

If the brake switch hasn't been changed that is a place to start. If they did change it you may have some air in the system. The last thing I'd look at is the adjustment procedure for the parking brake, mainly the part where you make the adjustment at the callipers.

I agree, There was/is a recall on the brake switch, More than likely that's the problem.

Thanks very much for answering. My dealer told me that in Germany the Brakes were changed. The Problem is when the Trike is standing longer time, the brake pedal must be pumped down longer time (3-4 Minutes) to reset the Brake funktion. And really the brake is going already again. Next week i m going to the dealer for inspection.
Best regards Guenter

check our performance machine.com they have a stage 1 rear brake kit for the tri-glide. the calipers have 2 piston's in each caliper. so brakeing is much better. cost u.s. 1399.00. phone number 800-479-4037 good luck.

Thats strange, I know when the brakes crapped out on my 2010 I could pump the brakes till I was blue in the face and they still didn't work. I got them back once they replaced the brake light switch which was covered under the recall.

The diaphragm in the brake cylinder is probably bad and letting brake fluid leak past it [internally]

Many thanks for your help. I was by the Harley dealer, it was air in the brake system. Now its OK.
Best regards from Germany to USA.

Good to hear you have your brakes back. I believe there may be a pretty good amount of Triglide owners who may experience loss of their back breaks due to air in the lines. Some of the dealers are balking at following the rear brake light switch bulletin as it is written. I had to listen to a dealer crab on how little time HD allotted them to replace the switch and bleed the brakes. The dealer who replaced my dads switch and mine did not bleed the brakes. My dads brakes worked but felt a touch soft vs before the switch was replaced, mine didn't have any brakes when I took it in for the switch replacement.

Last week I put my dads Triglide on the lift to do some work and found there were no rear brakes. I broke out the Mighty Vac vacuum pump and after putting close to a full bottle of brake fluid through he now has great back brakes again. The amount of air I had coming out was amazing, these dealers who are not bleeding the brakes are going to get to bleed them when the work returns.
