Traveling to Hawaii

We did the same, wife and I rented a bike when we flew to Alaska, So much easier, we made an appointment, with the dealership, jumped on a plane, landed, and they came out to actually pick us up...(free)

This not only saved us, traveling fee's, to get to the dealership BUT a lot of rental B/S....

We brought with us a back pack, for our clothing, so carrying stuff was very easy, We knew the areas that we wanted to explore in Alaska, so we also had all our hotel's with appointments ready.................... This had to be the best vacation I (we) ever had........

My dream was to explore Alaska on a motorcycle ,all my life, and now I have done it...................YES! Rent a bike, this will eliminate, any and all unnecessary problems, and the best part of renting a bike is: Your putting all the miles, on someone else's machine while yours is sitting, safe, unridden, in your garage... leaves you worry free, if the rental bike ever breaks down, it's no skin off your teeth, they, will come out, with a new bike for you to continue on with your much deserved vacation..

Our next adventure is next October for my 70th birthday..exploring Spain/Portugal for three weeks..(yep a rental bike, will have our name on it within a fee weeks)

Aloha!

PS: don't forget to "get laid" while there! :clapping::clapping:

I don't fly much.....Me 'I would wait till they finish the bridge ....:)...
I have said for years that I'll go when the bridge is finished …

… with rest stops & eateries thrown in.

Step brother and his brood live there on the big island, he's asked us to come.

Still an awful lot of the lower 48 that I want to see.

Bike rental

I rented a bike at the Harley shop in Kailua-Kona, on the big island. I chose the big island vs. Honolulu. Seemed like there is more miles of road, basically a loop around the island. Way more rural. It was a good experience. If your wanting to enjoy a leisurely ride, I'd choose the big island. If you're wanting to make the scene, maybe Honolulu would be better. If on the big island, I would highly recommend taking the Atlantis submarine ride. Way cool experience.

Enjoy!

The first time Ma and I went to Hawaii we reserved a black Electra Glide, just like the one we had at home. (After the pics we took, friends back home thought we'd taken our bike with us.)You'd have to join HOG (if they still offer this service) but it's gotta be cheaper than renting from other services.
