So the Trailer Store batwing fairing mounts on the detachable for mounts for the HD fairing. About every 3rd ride, I noticed that the fairing was raising up on the fork mount bushings. I'd put it back down where it belonged, and then it would rise up again after a few rides.
I was afraid that there was a possibility that the fairing could rise up enough to actually swing forward out of the top grommet, besides the fact that it shouldn't move. Since I had some 1/8 x 1 stainless flat laying around, I made a couple of brackets to keep the fairing in place. I drilled for the 5/16 stud with the acorn nut, and I drilled a 1/4 inch hole to attach the bracket to the fairing mount. I added a rubber grommet just because I knew the bracket wasn't going to sit perfectly flat, and I was hoping it would take up some space between the bracket and the fairing mount and add some cushion also. I have no idea what kind of stainless steel they used for the brackets, but I finally had to go to the machinist's chest and find a carbide drill to drill them !
The next thing I noticed was that you could pull the top of the windshield, and the outer fairing would move quite a bit. Two screws hold the inner and outer fairing together, as well as the windshield screws. The fairing was moving in the headlight area so I drilled 2 holes under the fairing in the headlight cutout area and added a couple screws. It doesn't move anymore. I had to remove one speaker to put nuts and washers on the bolts I used, but that's pretty easy.
I didn't get a pic of that modification, but I have pics of the brackets . I need to fine-tune them, but I must mow tomorrow as we're gone for a month on Tuesday. Trike, Toyhauler and camping and beer money
Going to try the back of the dragon on the trike ! We did it last summer on the 2 wheeler.
