trailer spare tire

I got a trailer with a spare tire, but it was not attached.
I am trying to figure a way to attach it to the tongue without drilling any holes or doing any welding. I have a carrier for the ice chest on the tongue.

tried to find a u-bolt but they were all too short.

Any Ideas???

I used a heavy flat piece of steel that was long enough to hold the spare.
I drilled (2) 3/8" holes for bolts that lined up with 2 holes in the spare.
Then I got a short piece of thick steel that was roughly 6" long.
I then drilled (2) 3/8" holes in each piece, far enough apart to fit over the trailer tongue.
I got (2) 3/8" bolts that were long enough to bolt the 2 pieces of steel on each side of the trailer tongue.
I used lock washers to prevent the nuts from coming loose.
Then I painted it to match the trailer.

I used a small piece of chain and a lock to secure the spare.
Never had any problem with it.

Please feel free to contact me, if needed.

Ride safe!

They do have spare tire brackets for that, it looks like long ubolt with bracket and screws for underneath the frame. Check the Tractor Store also try Norhern they carry spare tire for traliers etc.
