TPMS Module

NJMike and I have had no problems with the frontier TPMS. The rear tires have been disconnected. You have to check the air pressure manually now.

No, apparently this TPMS module is more than a work-around for not showing rear tire pressue lights on your dash

Apparently this TPMS module was also designed to fix shifting issues on DCT Wings making them shift smoother to compensate for the additional weight of the trike. When the module goes bad you see the "stars" in the transmission mode window, same as your see when you initialize the DCT. And yes, I did attempt to initialize the DCT to no avail.

Lucky for me, I was visiting my installer having a few accessories installed, and when I started my ride home i noticed the problem. This TPMS module is certainly covered under warranty, and CSC jumped right on it, but I only have 4,000 miles on the Trike since the conversion. And how ironic it occurred on the 1-year anniversary of taking delivery of my Trike.

I am asking these questions to see how may others have had a similar problem and determine if this is a one-time problem or common occurrence.

Very interesting. I’ve never heard of this TPMS module you are talking about. When Mike and I picked our trikes up from CSC, Will did not mention anything about what you’re talking about.

Drop down to "Similar Threads" below and click on "CSC's "FIX' for the TPMS light on the new wings." Apparently this "FIX" addressed more issues than just the TPMS light. When I had my conversion done, I asked if this "FIX" was incorporated into all new Encore kits and the answer was YES. So in only 4,000 miles CSC is replacing the TPMS module under warranty.

Cost of this part once the 5-year warranty expires is $364.00, but as one of those who replied to the thread I referenced above said, "It took 2-1/2 hours to install." I can't Imagine doing that in the middle of nowhere.

As my situation is resolved, I will post the results here as it could affect anyone riding a 2018+ with Encore Kit.

Maybe this will shed some additional clarity. The following is a cut and paste initially published by member Trikemaker (CSC Lead Engineer):

Hello All,

Some info about the TPMS and DCT shifting fix.

1. The fix is a small electronic module that has to be installed by a CSC dealer. A Honda dealer that is not a CSC dealer could possibly do it but won't want to. We don't recommend.

2. If all is correct the TPMS light and low tire pressure light should illuminate with all of the other warning lights when the trike is first turned on and then go off with all the other warning lights. This is a normal vehicle light test.

3. Rear tire pressure will permanently show 0 psi on dash.

4. Front tire pressure will continue to work the same as OEM.

5. Neither the TPMS light or low pressure light should ever come on unless the front tire has low air pressure.

5. DCT shifting will be improved to work with the trike.

Ours is operating exactly like trikemaker says it should. Since we got our trikes installed October 2023 I am betting that the fix was already in at that time.
