Since everyone I know mounts from the left side, and the trike doesn't tilt, why doesn't the Triglide tourpac open up from the left side. It would save walking around everytime you want to get something from the tourpac?

It's cost effective to use what you [Harley] already have.
Good Point!! But also it would be harder to reach if the hinges were on the front since the trike rear end is farther back than a two wheel bikeThe problem with hinging on the front would mean the passenger would have to dismount since the passenger backrest would tilt into the seat area.

Quite simply because Harley Davidson didn't want people getting into their tourpack from the left, due to the traffic. I know I wouldn't want to try getting into my tourpac with traffic swishing by! Just sayin!
On the trike it really doesn't matter which way it hinges. But on a two wheeler it needs to hinge from right to left, so that gravity doesn't close it on you when you have it on the kick stand. Just my opinion.
