I am awaiting the first 2012 TriGlide delivery here in the state - mine. For some reason, the local dealer claims he's at the mercy of HD, and can't give me a firm delivery date. I find it odd I can track a bottle of wine all the way across the country from CA, but my HD dealer seemingly can't track a $33K, half ton piece of machinery from York, PA to NC.

That said, after my internet research, I went ahead and ordered a Kuryakyn Perfect Storm kit to be bolted on and uploaded before I take delivery. I felt it was worth it to see if I could boost engine performance and reduce heat out of the gate. They will also be doing me a fairing mount Zumo 665, luggage rack, and a light kit for the tour pack.

This hobby is as expensive as my boating hobby was ten years ago. :AGGHH:

The dealer can tell roughly when delivery will take place. I've had several new bikes tracked when I ordered them, all delivered within a day or so of what my salesman said.

Thanks, msocko3.

Just for laughs, I called a few other dealers about their '12 trike delivery dates, and every other one said something like, "Well, we'll be getting two in next week, and will have at least two more delivered by mid-August." My dealer was the only one who waffled about "release dates" and gave me a rather sizable three week delivery window while shrugging his shoulders.

To pay him back, I have a plan of what I will say when I go in to pay for it. When he asks for the check, I'll reply, "Gee, I'm not really sure when I can get that to you. I'm at the mercy of my bank. The bank has a special date when they will release my funds to you, but they couldn't tell me exactly when it is. They said they should be able to have your money to you by, hmmmm, let me see here....sometime early next month. I'll call you when you can have it. Is that OK?"

Let's see what he says then.

In most cases, the next two trikes at the other dealers were already tagged with a deposit by a buyer. Even with the sluggish economy, it appears the TriGlides are rather popular.

Went to my dealer yesterday. They have one 2012 TriGlide on the floor, the two-tone black & red model.

I placed my order for the two-tone black & blue one and they tell me it won't be in until mid next month. The way the salesman explained it to me, they do the TriGlides in color batches. While the straight black ones are done all through the model year, the factory just finished up a batch of red ones and are now moving on to the blue ones.

He also told me that they already have three trikes bikes bought and paid for, well before they even get them delivered to the dealership. He was suggesting that the time of 6-month waits may be coming back, at least as far as the trikes are concerned.

Thanks, JohnC,

It sounds like your salesdude has his act together. That makes perfect sense. We are getting the two tone Ember Red/Merlot Sunglo paint job, and it should be the first one in the door. I spoke to another dealer nearby, and they said the first ones they were getting in were the red/merlot two-tones as well.

I wish my salesdude had given me that sensible explanation instead of his shuck-and-jive.

They have had a 2012 in Big Blue Pearl/ Vivid Black here in Lafayette. I watched them roll it out and it is a beautiful color scheme in the sun. Almost wish I had waited instead of buying the 2011 Vivid Black. Sales gerbil said they have 3 sold of the Ember Red Sunglo/ Merlot and expect them weekly in August.

Taylor, I know it is hard. I had the first year on order for almost four months and they could only guess when it would get there. The first guess was off by a month. So three months went to four. I was really impatient, but it was worth the wait! I bought mine in NC too, so maybe the same dealer, but I doubt it, because he was in contact with HD in York on a regular basis, trying to get me a time frame.

One of the reasons for the delay was plant close down for the holidays.

It rolled off the truck today. Pics with all the protective stuff, film, stickers etc. can be found in my album. You'll need to turn your head sideways to see 'em. Apparently the upload here doesn't allow you to change orientation of the photos.

Ember Red Sunglo/Merlot Sunglo color combo is gorgeous.
