To Build or Not to Build ?

Should I just trust the engineering and branding of so many big companies offering trikes or should I take the pain to build a Trike from scratch ?

What is the common feature of a Trike Newbie ?

How often would you want to go through the lengthy procedure of designing, building, testing and registration process of a trike ?

Is it not easier or even safer to just buy a CanAm or Slingshot or Freewheeler etc ?

Is Price / Cost the only deciding factor?

What are the true benefits of custom built trike - other than saying its unique and no other person will own the same thing on the road?

If I did a poll how many of you would say: Build a trike and how many would say: buy a ready to ride trike ?

Is just putting a sidecar better than turning your motorcycle into a Trike ?

Too many questions racing through my mind. Just feel free to ask or answer your own .

Best Wishes,

wayfarer

30 years ago i might have considered building my own, In the early 70's i did build a VW dune buggy.... But now i much prefer to buy a factory Trike....

No fuss no muss....ThumbUp

Welcome to T/T, Wayfarer:clapping:

My $.002 rupees:

If you want to ride right now, buy.

If you want to ride a unique trike, and don't mind waiting for a completed project, build.

Not to discourage you in any way but from personal experience, let me caution you that no matter how well you plan, things don't always go as planned! There are many things that go into building that can be planned ahead of a build, but there are also many "unplanned" things that could potentially delay your riding enjoyment if you decide to build.

Also not sure how readily available trike building components are in India, so that might/should play out as a factor in your decision.

Best of luck to you on your decision, whichever way you go....

I ran thru this process many times and finally decided that my time riding was better than my time building or have it built. Don't get me wrong, I still would love to have a build trike project in the works but I do like riding. Jim

Buy one already built now, and ride, while building one, you can take your time, and when it's done, just sell your old one..;)
