Time To Change Front Tire?

Hard to believe you wore out the factory front tire in 6,500 miles. I replaced my original tire at about 11,000 miles because I was leaving on a two week trip and it looked worn. After getting a tire tread depth gauge, that I learned how to read, I realized that tire was probably just fine. You can't really tell by just looking at them. They only have 5 or 6/32nd of an inch when new.

Still have the gauge I bought in 1971 when I worked at a Phillips 66, but now use this one as it's easier to read. Years ago, both front and rear tires were 10/32, 2 rears to one front was the norm. Then they changed the front to 5/32 while charging the same, and now even more!. The Dunlop Mission I run on my BMW GS has 15/32. I like that!!

My wife's Freewheeler just turned 11,000 miles yesterday with the original front tire. It's at 3/32.

My Wife just put a front tire on her CVO trike @ 16,000 she went with same OEM, I consider that pretty good miles as ITS A LOW PROFILE!
