This makes no sense

I have had my name on the list at one of the local Honda dealers to do the brake recall. They had run out of parts to do the recall and said they would call when they received more parts. Yesterday they called and said Honda would not sent any more replacement parts unless the dealers had the motorcycles in their service department to have the work done. He said it would take about four days to get the parts from Honda and then three hours to do the work. It doesn't make any sense to me that they will have to store my trike for a week and take responsibility for it while it is in their possession. At least the weather looks lousy for the next week so probably wouldn't be doing much riding anyway.

You should call Honda to verify and then raise the roof with them if it's true. If it is then it's ridiculous.

Maybe Honda is doing this because dealers are ordering too many kits without actually knowing how many they will need. That could be very expensive for Honda if dealers abuse the system or are incorrect in their numbers. Just a guess.

They don't trust their dealers, Some might /will order more parts then they need. That happen to the early CamAn Spyders recall.. 8 thousand + DPS Units had to be replaced, So you would have to bring the Spyder in 'Then they would pull the unit out send it back, Then Can am would send the dealer a totally new updated unit not a rebuilt... They didn't want one dealer stocking up on 10 units...

Looks like Honda is copying Harley...Again. Welcome to my service world. My trike sits at HD so much, I almost consider it a garaged vehicle.:qpnmt:

It seems that Honda has changed their minds again. My wife followed me over to the Honda dealer this afternoon to drop off our trike for the brake recall and was told that they had just got off the phone with Honda and the dealer doesn't need to keep my bike while they wait for the parts. It seems that the dealer had received three trikes yesterday and two this morning plus some two wheelers so they called Honda and told them that they didn't have room to store all these bikes nor did they want the responsibility of having them sitting around. Now you have to take it over so they can get the VIN number and mileage and then call Honda to get their blessing and order the parts. Of course Honda was so busy taking all of the calls that they were on hold for over 45 minutes. I bought the trike back home and will wait for the dealer to call that they have the parts and then have to take it back over. Hopefully the weather will be decent then because the service writer told me that after they receive the parts they have 20 days to get them installed and the old parts sent back to Honda. If you haven't got yours done yet maybe you can call the dealer and see if you can give them the VIN number and mileage and not have somebody follow you to drop it off.
