I'm going to relocate to a state that doesn't have state income tax and since I live near NV at the moment I thought I'd start my search there. My next choice is Weatherford, Texas but now Pahrump is where I'm looking. So would the Nevada folks and especially Pahrumpites tell me about your state and city?

Sarge, not stealing any thunder from TrikeTalk, but for additional input, you might want to post over on the gl1800 forum as well. Good luck in your decision.

isnt pahrump a brothel town. i rode through it once, and no i didnt stop..except for gas

I don't know anything about Pahrump, that's why I' asking. I know I can get a house for a really good price with a small chunk of ground.

I spent a week there a few years back when I was still RVing - used it as a base to explore Death Valley and region.

I think I heard it said they have one more church than brothels :)

While we enjoyed ourselves, I didn't get the feeling that I'd like to call it 'home'!

But different strokes for different folks - whatever 'floats your boat'!

The best of luck with your decision!

I have a nephew with 6 kids living there right now. He is in the Air Force and is in training to be a drone pilot. All the drones over there in Afghanistan are remotely controlled from Nevada amazingly. They love it there, and they are very outdoorsy people that hike, mountain bike and camp out a lot. He lives in Base housing so I don't know about real estate there. His wife told me that everyone there has a large mean dog,, pit bulls, dobies, Rotwielers to guard their homes. lotta crime for such a small town I guess.

Pahrump is liked by many folks and not so much by others. They have nearly everything one needs, except motorcycle stealerships. It's near Death Valley, and yes they do have a few brothels since the town is in Nye County (not Clark County where they are outlawed). It is far enough from Las Vegas so that you don't have to deal with that craziness, but you can ride there in about 45 minutes. Most of the people who live there for very independent folks. There are some track-type homes and others that resemble small ranches.

What do you hear from the locals, do they love it or hate it?
I'm looking to get at least a half an acre so I can build another shop in my back yard.
