Thinking about a trike? Consider this story.

I wasn't sure where to put this topic, so I stuck it here in general discussion. Please move it is it should be somewhere else.

I thought I would relay this experience for those folks thinking about converting their bike to a trike. It has to do with what I consider great customer service. We were at the Sturgis Bike Rally last week when we developed a drive train problem with our 1800 Goldwing with a Motortrike conversion. I suspected it was a U joint problem, but wasn't sure. I knew Motortrike was at the rally, so I hitched a ride in a pickup from a friend to their site and talked with Jeff, the owner of the business. He immediately knew exactly what it was and told me not to drive it any further, get it on a trailer and get it there the next morning. This was about 6:30 in the evening. We managed to borrow a trailer and got it to their location the next morning. They had a factory mechanic there and he took one look and confirmed it was the u joints. He told us to enjoy the rally and come back in a couple of hours.

To make a long story short, when we were all said and done, I had a completely new drive train in the trike. Drive shaft, u joints, cv boots, axles, everything. When I asked the mehanic how to prevent this in the future he explained that they had completely redesigned the drive shaft and u joints, making it stronger. He also explained that he replaced the cv boots as they had small cracks in the rubber and he didn't want them to go out in the future. Now I am worried about the cost. The mechanic didn't know and told me to talk to Jeff, but did say that me bringing doughnuts to the crew that morning was a good down payment. When I talked to Jeff and asked what I owed, he grinned and said, "Zero". I was shocked.

Now, I don't know if Motortrike has had trouble with their u joints in the past, thus the redesign. I also don't know what a dealer would have done had I broke down somewhere other than Sturgis and near the owner of Motortrike. I do think however that this is a good example of great customer service. We were back on the road riding the Hills in no time, with no money out of my pocket. If your thinking about a trike, I would certainly consider Motortrike.

great deal for you. I have a motor trike gladiator. the more I ride it the better it feels. been going for a year now on the conversion and have only had to call once. it was a air ride problem and the tech was able to tell me what the problem was and how to fix it over the phone. Great tech service.

I would recommend motor trike to anyone wanting to convert to a trike.

I'm a new MotorTrike owner here also and -real- pleased to hear stories like this.

Glad they got you going.

My experience with motor trike is nothing short of excellent. They rebuilt the rear end on my Goldwing at no charge and warranty is long gone and they even covered fedx shipping. Great caring company.:clapping:

When I was looking around for a kit and installer about 1 1/2 yr ago, I asked here if Motor Trike was OK. I had found what appeared to be a meticulous installer located only 18 miles from me - if I needed help. Someone said, "tough to go wrong with a Motor Trike". Installed the Phoenix (IRS for GL1500's), now 12,000 miles later, zero problems.

I have been a Motor Trike owner for 3 years and very pleased with the product. We were at the rally this year with friends who are seriously looking for trikes. We stopped by the Motor Trike so they could look them over. I was very impressed with Jeff and the time he spent discussing the merits of his product with them. He even took a look at my trike to ensure I had the proper drive shaft installed.

I had my Gladiator kit installed in February of this year. When the weather got nice enough, I rode anywhere and everywhere. After one short trip, I noticed a transmission leak. I called the installer, they got the trike in, found the problem and fixed it, no cost to me.

I'm very happy I went with Motor Trike!

Happy to hear Motor Trike took care of you kam582.

Looking for another trike right now and will only consider a Motor Trike. Mine was wrecked as a result of a bone headed cager Saturday two weeks ago and I'm finding it difficult to replace.

I hope you are not injured too bad, Gary. At least you can sit at the puter and search for your next trike. I wish you luck, and watch out for them thar cagers!
