You know. . . Time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of
the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married
and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like long
ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I
have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is... The winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How
did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I
remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those
older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I
could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey...they move slower
and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than
me...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones that I remember who
were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we
are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the
day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I
don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the
aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things
that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the
winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that
when it's over on this earth...its over. A new adventure will begin!
Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should
have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's
all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be
here faster than you think. So, what ever you would like to accomplish in
your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by
quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is
your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of
your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your
loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all
the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!
"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those
who come after. Make it a fantastic one.

LIVE IT WELL!
ENJOY TODAY!
DO SOMETHING FUN!
BE HAPPY !
HAVE A GREAT DAY
Remember "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver
LIVE HAPPY IN 2013! LASTLY, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN,YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE
SO - ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

~Your kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... But it's OK because other people forgot they even knew
you!!!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything.... Especially
golf.
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really
do care that you don't care to do them anymore.
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's
called "pre-sleep".
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch
.~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.
~~~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!
Stay well, "OLD FRIEND!" Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT!!!
It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life
You Have Lived.!!!
Read my mind uh? Very from the heart, tu. I needed that this morning. It is so true as I sit here in chronic pain now for 8 years going. What you said is so so true, thanks.
I figure the mind is still about 22 yoa.
Unfortunately, the body reminds me that at 52
acting 22 doesnt work anymore.
Or as the t shirt says, just yesterday, I was
21, what the hell happened?!
Oh how true it all is! Thanks for sharing!
(It still amazes me every morning when I look in the mirror and don't recognize the reflection I see)
So, true! I remember when I was a teen and saying, if I get to be that old, I'll shoot myself, well here I am that old and older and I am still here.
I try to tell the younger crowd, life goes bye very quickly so enjoy it while you can, but, they look at you like you had two heads on your shoulders.
Have a bucket list and try to do all the things in it, but as you get older, the bucket list gets smaller because some things in it, you know will never happen. BUT, it is great to dream and never let those dreams go away.
Be thankfull for all you have and try to spread joy to everyone you meet!
Smile, even if you are not well and hurting, because that smile will do wonders to other people!
In the cosmos, your time here on earth is like a speck in the wind.
Very, very well said!!! ThumbUp
true that time does creep up on you, and that realisation can come as a bit of a surprise, but i have to tell a story about my friend Billy. billy is 72, and has had an amazing life so far. he is a reasonably well known singer , a vietnam vet, tank commander and gunner, he loves his bikes and recently traded his japanese cruiser for a scooter as the cruiser was getting a bit heavy. he got a 300cc Downtown, im not even sure what make it is, but it hasnt slowed him down any, we went for a ride in the afternood, 4 bikes. thrrough the cane fields and around the bays, Billy was in front of me and we were hitting 140 kph and hes still got it going on. At chrismas he was singing at a party, he still loves to rock n roll. saw him get up on a table and jump off without missing a note. the man is a legend, and a hero.
so being older isnt a sentence. and while you may slow a bit, dont let a number limit your possibilities. As the ageing woman in the movie " the worlds fastest indian" said..."many a good tune is played on an old fiddle"..
You know blondie my wife and i have been married so long we are on 3rd. bottle of tobassaco sauce!
How many years do you suppose that is?
Thanks Blondie and Oneup for the word of wisdom. I too think about what I have done in the past and with the exception of a couple of things, I would not change a thing.
I like the old saying "Today is the first day of the rest of your life" and I hope to live every day to the best of my ability and do the things that are important to me with family and friends. I have not started a bucket list and knowing me I won't get around to it because it seams like things I want to do today will change by this time next week. Ten years ago I didn't even think about going aroung the country on a trike.
Once more thank you for your words and hope life treats you the way you want.ThumbUp
Great job Blondie. I remember when I'd look at older people and think, man are they old.
Now I'll be 62 in a month and a half and wonder where the years went. Well be married for 42 years on my birthday. Hard to believe, but I wouldn't change a thing either. Just take every day and thank the Lord that he gave them to you and dont look back. Keep on chargin. Everybody ride safe. :AllGood:
When my Son told me he didn't understand why I was so annoyed because the winter was lasting so long I told him that when you are in your late 60's you really don't know how many more good Springs may be ahead of you. You cherish every one and panic when you realize that in 7 or 8 or 10 yrs you probably won't be riding anymore. I've lost 6 good friends in the last 6 yrs, ( one just this week) and the realization sets in that the circle is getting smaller and smaller. I remember when my friend Bob who was dying of cancer in 2006 insisted on taking the trip out West with us, was asked by a waitress what he wanted, his reply was "more time"... He didn't get his wish. Like the man said in an earlier post, we need to enjoy every day, which is so hard for those of us who love being outside during a year where is seems the winter is lasting forever. I am fortunate to have good health but I am also aware that that fact could change tomorrow. I guess we need to be thankful for every day.
In Texas, that would be about five or six months. In Wyoming, I'd guess nearly forever!! LOL!
Hah Hah. I guess some like it hotter than others?
Yes its coming up on 25 yrs. for me and the boss, and before you ask, I am not the boss.
I have seen the bosses job and don't want it!
