Planning a ride from Missouri to Maine in Sept and am looking for info. Only have 2 weeks so have to maximize travel time, so will most likely use interstates (as bad as I hate them). Heading to Maine to check lobster off the wife's bucket list.

Check out the Maine Diner in Wells, ME. Town of Ogunquit is nice little town also. Just south of Wells. Both in southern ME along Rt. 1.

You just had to mention The Maine Diner. Now I have to plan a trip to Maine. I always weigh more when I come back home !

Run hwy 1 up to Barr Harbor. Cadillac Mt. is a must, also Acadia National park. Don't forget to go on a whale watch cruise, and you can go out on a lobster boat tour of the harbor and see how its done. A lot of great little towns all along rt1. A lot of stuff to see, have fun.
