The weather here in Ohio is turning cold so now is the time for rebuilding. Not the trike or the Road King but me, going in Monday Nov 1st for a TKR on the left knee. Had the right one done 2 years ago this coming Jan and it is doing good, just dreading the PT but it has to be done.

They have that type of knee surgery down to a Science…So much so they even do it while you wait…....

Its out patient, surgery is at 10 am should be home around 4-5 same day.

I'm sure much has changed. When my left knee was rebuilt some 10 years ago, son drove me to and from. Felt like I'd been mugged afterwards. And you are right, the PT was a nut breaker. Wish we'd of had the wheel chair ramp back then.

A couple weeks ago on a Wednesday, my wife and I walked into a restaurant for lunch and some older gentleman was sitting there having a burger and started talking to us walking by, me using a cane and the wife using a walker. He stated that he had a complete hip replacement on Monday. Surgery began at 7:30 AM and he was out of the hospital on his way home by 11:30 AM. Seen him walking thru the restaurant using a cane with a slight limp.

My knees went bad thanks to the US Army back in the 70’s, or that was when they started. Time forward to the mid 90’s. The Ortho Doc wanted to replace both of my knees. I asked him about the ‘replacement-replacement’ surgery; would I be able to go through it again, when the second ones wore out. I told him that when I could no longer walk, then he could do the first replacements. The time came, when I was hurting so much, I decided it was time to get them both replaced. We scheduled the surgery. Two days before the surgery, he passed away. Time forward to now, I am still walking and riding on my God given knees! I still hurt, but I will make it a while longer now.

Hey, took the wife in for surgery at noon today and she is home in bed by 8:00 pm. Oh, what kind of surgery was it? Double mastectomy. Breast cancer in right side. Also took lymph nodes on right side (sentinels). Amazing what they can do these days and it gets better every year! Good Luck brother, I 'm not too far behind you. I need them both done.

All went well, pain level is around 3 unless doing PT. My first in house PT today and had 103 degrees of bend but this will come and go with swelling and stiffness. doing my PT 3 times a day to make sure I can get as much range of movement i can get. Haven't taken any pain meds other than Tyenol.
