Lately, my '10 TG has behaved funny when hot. Would run good until I stop. If I restart it within a short while would run bad like one cylinder not quite firing until revving. Would eventually clear up.
On Thursday, went 100 miles, including bumper to bumper for long distance through NYC. Stop in office, rough when starting 1 hr later. Stopped at a store for 10 min. Then even rougher. Stopped at a deli for 10 min. Ran like it was on one cylinder. Note I had that traffic function turned off. Let sit for 2 hrs. Ran fine. Went to softball Fri. At field ran bad and showed low voltage and following errors: P0151-rear O2 sensor low, P0562-battery voltage low, P1356-rear cylinder no combustion. Let sit for a while and rode home later at night. The poor running was happening before battery replaced. Over phone, HD's only idea is loose battery cable (battery they installed at service a couple weeks ago). Note voltage regulator has under 1000 miles on it. Stator has less that 10k.
Trike now has 71k mils total.
I will be going to talk to a local shop that will do warranty work also. HD won't even look at it for at least a week. Just looking for any ideas from the triking masses.

Just for laughs check the battery terminals...

Just talked to independent shop. He is wondering about spark plug cables. Heat expands cracks in wires. That's the first thing he will look at when I drop it off later. Heat seems to be common denominator. But only when restarting. I personally checked battery cables since it is new battery. Lithium.

Had a similar problem on a 2006 2- wheeler & it turned out to be the engine temp. sensing unit, it giving the ecu a false temp reading on restarts so as to run richer as if it was a cold engine until it thought engine had reached operating temp. & then leaned back out. Just a thought.

Ooooooo. That's a good one. I'll have to pass it onto the shop. He was also mentioning to check the coils. I didn't realize they are hidden under tank.

Yes, it was like you tried to start a warmed up engine with the old manual choke fully on. Im not sure how Hd tech. diagnosed the senser was bad but as soon as they changed it out it ran like normal.
Hope that helps!!!
