My wife & I went to Texas Roadhouse tonight for Dinner. We ate at the bar and every thing was good until we paid our bill. We where given a gift certificate by one of our friends, worth $50. Our bill was $32 & change not bad for two people. I wrote on the ticket $8 for tip not a bad tip. The waitress never came back. I waved to her and ask for my $7 & change change she said they do not give cash back on gift cards. I said I understand that but I am still owed $7 change. She dug in the trash can and pulled out a gift card, I watched her do this. She could tell I wasn't happy. I left and drove away. As drove off I thought how much was left on my card so I went back to check it out. When they checked it there was a $1.49 left on it. I complained and said there should be $7 something on it. The guy talked to some one else and said they would put $7 on it. I said it as more than $7, so they gave me $10 or so they said. The $1.49 was not mine. I ask how many other people they cheated out of money. He said you got $10 that's all that matters. I wonder how many millions they cheat people out of.

DO NOT BUY OR USE GIFT CARDS AT TEXAS RODEHOUSE.

They maybe ok I you pay cash.

We eat at Texas Roadhouse as often as we can. They have the best BBQ ribs. I think we still have about 3 gift certificates with a balance. I can't understand why they didn't return yours when there was a balance. That experience wouldn't set too well with me either.

Hate to hear you were treated badly. It would irritate me, too. We eat at the Roadhouse a few times a year, usually runs us about $50. But I ain't never heard of a gift card... guess I got cheap relatives. LOL

I'd be on the corporate web site looking for a contact number or email address and complain to high heaven. I've never heard of a place doing something like this, no excuse for their actions. Maybe the franchise owner doesn't know this is happening.

The local store has offered me a free entrée. I am not worried about the food or the bill. I wonder how many other customers they have done this to. I have not responded to them yet. Corp. has not responded probably wont. 2 people at least were victims in a matter of couple of minutes. Was it a accident? Probably not.

It's more than likley the result of improper training and not using ones common sense. You did the right thing to bring it to the Manager attention and they did at least try to resolve it. Hopefully they educate their employees.

Stupid does, Stupid is.

It would be fun later on to buy another gift card and try it again, see what the results are ??????
