My wife get too hot wearing blue jeans in the summer.
I've looked at some of the mesh pants just dont like the price.
Short of leaving her at home this summer anyone have suggestions.

The nice thing about mesh pants is that they also provide great protection should anything happen. The ones I bought for my wife are made by Olympic and have hip thigh and knee pads. She can wear them over pants, shorts or by themselves. They have already saved her in one laydown (pre-trike). My thoughts are that any other pant that would be light enough to be cool would also be too light to give her any protection. It's not as likely on a trike but you can still go down and you don't want to be any more vulnerable then need be. Believe me if you need them you will wish you had spent twice or 3 times as much on them.

It will help a little if she wore light colored jeans such as light blue, white or tan. Mesh though would probably be better.

No reason to leave her home. A little Duct tape goes a long way in not hearing heat complaints. That or light colored pants.

I've seen these pants at truck stops. Don't laugh let me finish. There like cargo pants but the can be made into shorts. By un zipping them just around the knee.Any light colored shirts or pants make it cool ride. ! Of course there are options like shorts and then chaps also. Ya get off the bike and take the chaps off. ThumbUp

I actually have two pairs of those pants that unzip around the knee. Got them in Walmart Years ago. Now I will have to pay attention in truck stops.

I'm pretty lucky, temps don't bother me below the belt - cold or hot - nothing. Above the belt every temp effects me. I ride in jeans at all times and would never ride in shorts or gym shoes. Other then a leather jacket the only other thing I wear is a mesh jacket on a really hot day.

I think the best advise is to wear light colored pants.

I don't like the price of a leather or mesh jacket, but that's life. Be comfortable for a price or uncomfortable by saving money. The choice is yours/hers. If the mesh pants works for her - you're life will be much better if you get them for her. LOL

Of course you said some were too expensive, but have her look at the Scorpion Savannah Pants, when I get skinny again, i'll have a pair. The women I know that wear these love them. Karen

Well the wife said the mesh will have to wait. We both got some Columbia sports pants
with dry wick and sun protection. So hopefully this will do this summer. We or going
to Arkansas in the middle of July and ride some of the hills.
