Sturgis 2014

for those heading to Sturgis, im envious.. for the first timers, your going to love it, as a stand alone trip it was worth the time, money, and distance to get there from the other side of the planet. and youll enjoy the ride.
The event isnt just in sturgis , its the whole Black hills area and youll find plenty venture further.. if you have a spare ride day (there are so many excellent rides) check out the Badlands.

Or find Nemo...

...............check out the Badlands.

Or find Nemo...

Years ago an old timer told me that you hadn't been to Sturgis 'til ya toured the Bad Lands, went out the south east gate and had a cold beer at the Interior, SD bar. Always take the Sturgis virgins there. VERY rustic establishment.

Finding Nemo, Nemo, SD that is. Found Nemo a couple years ago when we were told they had the best 'all you can eat' breakfast. They weren't wrong, BEST in the Black Hills !

Hey Jeff, its not too late to plan your return trip to Sturgis 2014, your right about riding the badlands, I'm thinking of getting there a day or 2 ahead so I can ride with a little less traffic. How is Elise doing, still good I hope?

Is that the little bar on the north side of 44, called The Horseshoe or Horseshoe Bar?

Do you remember the name of that breakfast place, some friends & I found a great place on an early morning ride after heading south out of Rapid City, but none of us can remember the name.

Yeah, the bar in Interior is the Horseshoe. The breakfast in Nemo is the Nemo Volunteer Fire Dept fire house. VERY GOOD !!!

yeah mate, shes doing really good. we wont be making it back to sturgis again soon, even though i would love to. hiring a bike is a bit price, and elise would have a fit if she thought i was going to buy another harley. 7 bikes in the garage is enough already. might sell the chopper in a few years and come and buy an older tourer. we would like to see more of the east coast USA too.
and maybe Canada. This year Im planning to do a short ride in Asia.
good idea to get to sturgis early.. you wont be anywhere close to alone though.. we did that last year, and there were plenty of riders there, but it is much better for riding before the event starts. fav ride in the black hills was the needles, which we lucky to have "Keystone" and company from this forum, as a guides and ride organiser. He also lead us down through Custer state park which is also a good ride. Bison dont understand road rules though, and they are big, so keep an eye out.

My wife and I will be heading to Sturgis this year from Massachusetts. This will be our second time and we're really looking forward to it. Staying in Rapid City.

Hi Bernie, I just read your intro posts & was going to invite you here, but you beat me to it. ThumbUp
There seems to be a growing group of TT'rs that are trying to meet up in Sturgis and also do the T.O.U.R., it would be great if you could join us.
Where do you stay while doing Sturgis, I'm in a RV Park in Sturgis, on a hill above Main St..

This year we are staying at the Hampton Inn in Rapid City. Somehow managed to get a fantastic rate!! The last time we were there we stayed on Terry Peak in Lead. Nice cabin, but didn't care much for the nightime ride up the mountain. We will be at the rally from the August 2 and leave on the 10th. I'll stay in touch.

Have you ever done that trikes only ride that the Buffalo Chip puts on?

That's the T.O.U.R., there should be quite a few of us there, including our fearless forum leaders.:D

Keep in eye on this thread, we'll update & make plans as it gets closer to Sturgis.

I just checked the Buffalo Chip website and they HAVE NOT updated the T.O.U.R. registration page, I will contact Carol Woodruff again and let everyone know when we can start registering. I don't want to register until it shows a 2014 date.

I haven't heard back from Carol Woodruff yet, but I was wondering if anyone has already registered for the 2014 T.O.U.R. using the 2013 form???

Yeah, I registered whle back just to see what it would tell me. All I got back was a 'Thank you for your entry'.

Tried entering again thinking it would come back telling me I was already entered......nah, just thanked me again for my entry.

OK, the T.O.U.R. registration page now has the correct Wed. Aug. 6th, 2014 date, for those planning to do the 2014 T.O.U.R. during the 2014 Sturgis Rally, lets see how many of us can get registered.

For those that have registered using the 2013 page, it might be a good idea to register again, just to be safe.

Hey Tom,

Just wanted you to know that I too saw this link earlier today on the Buffalo Chips' website, under events planned during the 2014 Sturgis MC Rally. I registered today, on their website page which is the same page as the link that you provide above. I hope to see many of our TT/T.O.I. members register by their adding a brief comment to this thread. In addition, I welcome any of the TT/T.O.I. members to send me a PM (personal email) so that I can help coordinate who will be attending and later, help with the organization of our own TT/T.O.I. meeting/get-together/ride. Tom, thanks for your support and to our members that are planning on attending, thank you for your consideration and cooperation. I attended the T.O.U.R. last year and it was a BLAST! :pepper::pepper::pepper: Free food & entertainment, door prizes/raffle, great fellowship, beautiful scenery (Black Hills of SD) what more could one ask? ThumbUp Thank you, Roadsmith!!!

Hi Paul,

Glad your ready to do the hard work and I hope our group continues to grow, it should be a lot of fun.

I won a TOI flag from a drawing Zook & Marge had, its a good looking flag and I'll be flying it from the back of my TG during the T.O.U.R.! I'm looking forward to our meeting & rides!

I'm goin'! My group is staying in Wall next year, and we'll make the trip to Sturgis at least a couple times throughout the week.

Change of plans...

My "group" is gonna cruise the Appalachians and run the Blue Ridge Parkway this year, instead. Savin' up for the 75th Anniversary next year.

Doug,

Sorry to read that you're not going to attend the T.O.U.R. and Sturgis Rally this year. We'll look forward to seeing you and your group next year.

We did that two years ago with friends. Stayed in Gatlinburg, and although there was a lot of traffic, it was convenient being able to walk everywhere at night.

I see the T.O.U.R ride is on August 6th, a Wednesday. That's also the day of "No Panties Wednesday" in Hulett, WY, at Devil's Tower. Ah, the things we're willing to give up (once my wife decides I am)> LOL

Sorry to hear you & your group won't be joining us for what is predicted to be the best Sturgis Rally in 20yrs, hope you all have fun on the Blue Ridge. I have heard that is great riding in that area, but I also heard that the NWS is predicting several hurricanes for that area in early Aug.
If you change your minds, you know where we will be, in the wonderful Black Hills with no hurricanes!!:pepper::wave4:
maybe some tiny hail, but no hurricanes!:Trike1:
