I just checked mine Have a look at yours

The vent line runs down from the tank and drops down near the belt

Check it for cuts and partial plugging from road grime #5 in the picture

After I ride and put the trike in the garage, I will get a gas smell. After the trike cools the smell goes away if I leave the garage door open ot slightly open. Jim

The 3 Trikes and some of bikes over the years would leave a smell of gas in my garage....But Only If the tank was low, Gas fumes. Especially on hot days, To me thats normal.

Ok, I came back from my morning breakfast run, 6:30am and parked in my garage and the tank is on reserve and I just went down to get something guess what..... Can you smell the fumes i can... So like i said normal..:xzqxz:

Very interesting

Mine has not done it since clearing the vent tube and shortening it some

That's the purpose of the Vent tube to vent the fumes low and away from the hot engine into the atmosphere/Garage .... And that what most people smell...

California uses a charcoal canister to hold the fumes till they can be burnt off, And sometimes the canister gets saturated, And then you get fumes...

Yup, I get that part, dunno about the last bikes Never had that strong smell, I am going to put a 1 way valve on the end

Like the 1 found on a rear end for a truck

This is very common and is caused by excessive engine heat radiating off the jugs and up onto the gas tank which in turn causes the gases and air in the tank to expand. The gaseous air that is forced out of the tank via the vent tube is what you are smelling. Many have reported that when they added the Love Jugs fans the problem went away (seen it on the other forum). I would say that is especially true if you let the fans run for a few minutes after the bike is turned off.

To clarify, this happens when the bike is good and hot when parked and is not uncommon. It is most noticeable when parked in a closed space like a garage which contains the fumes to a small area. It also is more prevalent when the gas level is low as there is more air to expand and be pushed out of the fuel tank.

I will post on another thread soon so as not to hijack this one....probably tonight. It has been a crazy two weeks. Thanks so much for all the prayers, calls, emails and texts, cannot tell you how much that has meant to us. Our power was on and off and we were taking care of a lot, so sorry I have not been posting.

It is ALL good, just glad to have you and your family safe:p
